Due to life, I have to stop playing UO so I can go live homeless because I got fired for asking a coworker out and technically, because it's a catch all category, I was fired for sexual harassment and because Washington State has at will employment, I can't do shit about it..

And to top it off, now people won't hire me because I'm a "risk"..... and I'm badly in debt, my truck is getting repossessed In a few days (Monday), I'll be losing my apartment soon after that because I cant pay rent.. So I am going to be homeless :(.

Anyhow.. Since all of this... I need to get rid of my houses..

So one of them will be dropped with all of its contents Saturday 9pm PDT.

I will have a gater at west Britain bank. an hour or so before it drops.

Coordinates are 130 degrees 31 minutes south by 29 degrees 48 minutes east.

Southwest of Trinsic.

1 Year Update:

I have been back for a little bit, off and on though and noticed that my post was a year ago today. So I thought of giving you guys an update. I live in a different state now above Texas, I have a low paying job as a fast food cook and now have my own apartment. I have a car now because my truck still got repossessed and I'm further in debt than I was. Not that bad thought, it wasn't what I had, but it's good enough..

I still want to pursue my business idea that would employ and house homeless people once I can save enough money to start it...

What type of debt? Do you have any sort of emergency savings stashed away?
Hope things eventually work out. I'd be happy to keep up with your uo houses if necessary while you're gone.

There is absolutely no reason any other potential employer should know about the circumstances of you being let go from your previous job. The only thing they are legally allowed to share is just to verify that you were employed there at the time you claimed in your resume.

Keep your head up man....who knows this may be one of the best opportunities of your life. Once you hit the bottom there is nowhere to go but UP!!

Life changes are always hard and difficult I'm telling you...just keep your head up and keep pushing forward. Shit will get better as long as you keep trying.

Hate to say it but this isn't true.

As long as what the past employer is stating is true, they can legally disclose the the reason for the termination.

Work in the law, have given reason for the termination of past employees when specifically asked for.

OP best thing you can do is tell the company you are trying to get hired by that you are still currently employed at the job you were fired from, don't want them to know that you are looking for another job and would appreciate it if they wouldn't call for a reference as you fear they may terminate your employment for seeking another job.

Only down side is if they decide to call anyway then you're definitely not getting hired for lying. Risky I know but having an ex-employer tell them you were fired for sexual harassment is a pretty big blow unless you are being interviewed by somebody who is extremely understanding to the situation. Your call, just a bit of friendly advice to think about.

I don't know what field of work you are in but it's done in the legal field all the time and is generally accepted at face value. I've done this every time I went on an interview with a potential employer and I've never had anyone call or not been hired for asking for that courtesy.

That's a rough situation and wish you the best of luck OP.

Don't have a link to anything more concrete but here is a quick link I found to back up my assertion.

http://employment-law.freeadvice.com/employment-law/hiring/employer_references.htm

"When you leave a job or are fired, your previous employer may generally disclose any information about your past performance as long as the information is true. For example, if you were terminated from your job for stealing or as a result of poor performance, your employer may share these details with prospective employers. Your previous employer cannot, however, make statements that are false or defamatory. If this happens, you may be able to file a lawsuit for defamation of character."

In Washington state, sexual harassment can't be claimed until the aggressor has been told the attention is unwanted. This means if you were let go for sexual harassment, you had to have known it was not wanted attention already. In Washington we have fair employment laws. If you were in fact let go for what they say was sexual harassment, but not in fact knowledge on your part, go get unemployment.

Thanks for the house spot tho.

Sorry to hear what you are going through. If I were in your shoes bro - I would def do this -

Go out and spend this wholeeeee weekend , yes this whole weekend - applying to tons and tons of jobs ... even if it's a job that you don't care to do or place to work at - do it anyways.

Types of jobs that may be easy to get , and may not call your past "references"
* Fast food restaurant (mcdonalds, wendys etc) - busser , dishwasher etc
* Landscaping / yard clean up
* OR - Start your own business working for yourself... some take hardly no money to start.

Question - How long were you working at this job for? If it was for a short time or even a long time - when you go to apply at a new business - DO NOT NOT NOT put down your current job you got fired from. Example - if you started there 5-7 months ago, leave this blank on your resume and if you get an interview somewhere - tell your interviewer that you have been "unemployed".... its deceptive sure , but no person should ever have to live homeless bro REGARDLESS how bad they did or did not mess up in life.

Question - If you do have to use this job on a job resume because you were there for like 2+ years - can you maybe have a "friend" of yours "pretend" to be your current boss who just fired you and to have them put in a good word for you with your potential new boss/job? Sure this is deceptive too , but given your situation - you need to a job, food, and a place to live

Question - Can you move back in with your family? or any friends?

Question/Idea - If all else fails and you cant move in with your parents or friends... I hate to suggest this , but if I were you - I would drive my truck somewhere and live in/out of it.. and not let it get repossessed for as long as possible.

Question/Idea - If you have to tell your interviewer/new potential boss about your job you got let go from... tell them that you asked a coworker out to happy hour after work - trying to make new friends with people in the office.. and that this person took it the wrong way. Just downplay the wholeeeeeee thing bro.

**Last - final resort if every , single, thing , fails...... go to the army/military office ans ask if you can join... they will give you housing/food. **

The main thing right now is to try to get a new job... and to reestablish yourself at a new job, regardless of how little it may pay and regardless of what the job is...no person should ever go homeless or starve due to hunger. I wish you good luck , I hope everything works out for you in the end.

Just because you asked a coworker out that you liked... doesn't mean you deserve to go through hell bro. Stop back here one day and let us know how things go for you ... again - good luck :(:(:( I am adding this thread to my "watched" list, so the day you come back and update us - I can see how things are going for you and can help you re-establish yourself in this game :)

@Silly Santa none of it matters, I have until this Sunday night to find a job and start fixing stuff.. I'm out of time.

You are not "out of time" and you "do have options". Re-read what I sent above.... and for the time being - just don't let your truck get repoed. Also, spend the whole day looking for a new job. Lots of places are going to be hiring due to the holidays coming up.

>> In addition - if you didn't work at this 1 job for too long just leave it off your resume.... don't put it down.... "Pretend" that you have been un-employed for the last year or w/e. <<
