It's not just a death cam. It's an action cam. To me, if I was in the hunt for a free shard, or wanted to get info on this, and saw a stream of everyone going from WBB to Castle for the Crippled King event, I'd be creating an account instantly. There were hundreds of people there.
Or even the can scrolling through people and seeing what seems like an endless amount of different characters/places, would makes me join. People don't want a dead shard, they want to play with tons of other people. The Cam shows this.

I'm one of the new players that cam brought lol, when i searched for "ultima online" on twitch, but i thought it was showing random places of the map
The cam jumps to people engaging in some kind of combat.

Is there a link so we can get to the action cam? I found it a great way to see what's going on, whether there are champ spawns up, and to beat up red players. I find it a great way to find opportunity in the lands of Brittania.

why not just call it a valorcam and make it only show scenes where red players have murdered a blue player

valorcam fux reds but at least you can always lessen statloss, or add more stat free zones
I vote to make it a valorcam, in which case being red could be incentivized somehow which may compliment the already existing red versus blue scene

The deathcam is awesome. I think 5 minute delay is just right. No insta-ganks can happen with a small delay. Rest assured that whatever is decided that someone is going to be unhappy. Who cares?
Its drawing people to the shard which is reason enough right there. My suggestion for death cam? Add the Benny Hill theme song for proper effect! Lulz.
Another idea is to just have a cam dedicated to watching Trin members die over and over. You could call it "Tram Cam."

camera needs to show gps coordinates as is should put uoam on the background

I'd say put like a 10 minute delay on it.. yesterday I tuned in for a bit, saw some people die at various dungeons, so I recalled there and rezzed them but I easily could have just looted them all thanks to the eye in the sky. I like the idea but without a delay it's kinda cheap.

Ok let's focus on the immediate: on or off for the Easter event? On one hand I don't want everyone to be able to just watch and come steal my spawn when I find something cool, however, what is a better advertisement than another amazing event with unique action and players every where.

This is prolly one of the better replies. I have watched the death cam, and it is funny as hell. I know the mods are wanting to attract new members, and thats all good. There will clearly be a spike, it is interesting, and now the gigantic BUT, as much as alot of folks want it, not everyone is here to pvp ALL the time. I am down with it, but there are times when the guilds are doing things for the betterment of their guilds, and do not wish to engage in pvp, or more aptly named "getting pked by roving bands of reds".This is like an eye in the sky, it is invasive. LOL, I feel like I am in my work truck and the office has gps set on me. I know its a free server, and you can just chose not to play, but alot of us love ALL aspects of the game, not just pvp. Have to give it a thumbs down man.

I have watched it extensively today. Seems the only time it tags on you is if you are low on health. {hence death cam} Still, will be kinda bogus on lg guild outtings with new or inexperienced players. New music was damn funny I must admit. Still not a big fan, but I guess as long as I take my tamer or bard out I have no worries of pks figuring out where I am, as they are rarely below half health.

Upon furher review: deathcam on a short timer is utter bullshit. Not even enough time for a corpse to decay at the current rate. The griefing this will induce is going to push more people out than it will bring in.
30 minute delay. PvP only. Everybody wins.
No one watching the feed is going to care how recent the feed is...within reason. They just want to see that the server is alive.
