Desperate for Answers

So I am having a serious connection problem and hoping someone has some more ides. I downloaded UOF less than 2 weeks ago and have seriously frustrating issues staying connected. I am about to the point of giving up because I am out of ideas.....I was told to check ping and to uninstall and reinstall. I have done all that. I have even run as administrator and nothing is helping. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or what is going on. I never have any issues surfing the web or being on the internet. I have never lost connection once until I downloaded UOF. I never had any issues before with UO Mondain's Legacy either. But I literally can not go long with out 'lost connection'....and nothing is more frustrating than dying to a scorpion due to lost connection. lol. It is getting a little ridiculous so I am open to any suggestions at all. At first I didn't mind because I was wanting to macro while bank sitting to gain some skills while afk. But every time I try at Britain bank....I lose connection within 10 minutes. I went to a dungeon the other day and after only being there for twenty minutes--I would say I lost connection at least 3-4 times. I have even put hiding skill on every character and run a hiding macro constantly while playing in hopes if I lose connection I will be hidden and not die while trying to get back on.

----After uninstalling and reinstalling today I was hopeful that it would be better. I logged on and within 5 minutes.....take a guess. lol

But any help would be greatly appreciated. I truly love UO and am excited to get back in the game....but if I can not fight something as easy as an ettin or scorpion with out losing connection then I don't see any point of playing. It is too frustrating.

Make sure in Razor you have "negotiation with server check"

Tsavo. Thanks for your response! I thought I sent this message to you yesterday but apparently it was sent when UO crashed my internet down. LOL. But I appreciate your time for reading and giving me input. It was already checked in Razor though. :( I don't know. Someone also suggested that it may because of me having webroot, malware bytes, and privacer. Who knows? It may also be because I bought the cheapest lap top ever with no intentions of ever playing or getting hooked on UO again. :D I originally got lap top strictly for email because it seems that email address is necessary for a lot of things these days. But I will keep trying different things and hope for the best. But once again----thank you for your feed back and taking the time to read my message.

Hi, I suggest you download mirc and join the UOF mirc channel. There are lots of nerds in there that will be more than willing to help you get connected. Carl is the king networking nerd on the UOF staff. Shoot him a message on mirc or a pm on here and he will do his damndest to get you reliably connected to the server.

I never had any issues before with UO Mondain's Legacy either.

you cant play UOF with ML client, its too old. it will boot you automatically.

need to uninstall Mondains Legacy completely and install the UOF client from the website here.

Yeah it sounds like what is happening is your client isn't patched far enough so that when it tries to load newer content, or maybe just too much of it, your client can't handle it and crashes.

It doesn't sound like a networking issue if you aren't having any other internet related issues, just with UOF.

I thought the problem was fixed....I am still losing connection quite frequently and definitely happens in really busy areas where a lot is going on. Britain bank is the worst for me I would say. And as far as Mondain's Legacy goes....I had that years ago on a different computer. So that is not installed on here anymore. :( I was told about the compatible part in razor and checked that and it was set on Windows 7....So I switched that and that helped my screen from flickering and blinking but the losing connection problem is still a major problem. How do I check to see if my patch is correct and up to date though? Could that still be a problem even though I am not trying to run UOF with Mondain's Legacy? And what about Windows 8?? Does anyone else out there use windows 8?

@Chesapeake Girl I'm wondering if you are using 2 clients at the same time?

Is the client just crashing or is it actually saying connection lost? I'm wondering if you are actually whitescreening.

Whitescreening occurs when you are using 2 clients, when you switch between them and find that your alternate client is frozen with a whiteish fade over the client window..

In order to prevent this from happening you need to right click the background of your computer and in properties, change your theme to ''windows classic''

hmmm. Interesting about the client part....I am using the classic ultima online client. That was the one that it started me with when I downloaded UOF. BUT---I just tried opening it up and got this:
Could not connect to patch server 159.153.197.91:8888
Could not connect to a patch server
Make sure you have an active connection to the Internet via an ISP or a direct connection.
Your client may not be the most recent version.
You may be able to play the game with your current client.
Check http://www.uo.com/ for help on resolving patching issues.

But I am playing UOF and it didn't make me los connection. But I thought the client had to be working before UO even opens. At least it used to be that way. It would be a very SHORT patch before signing in....after the initial LONG hour long patch when first getting started. But when I open UOF it never says anything about a patch just opens up razor and takes me to UO log in screen. So that is a little weird maybe?? But as far as when boots me. I literally freeze in game and can not do anything at all and a little box pops up in middle of screen and says 'lost connection' And then I go in to my wireless internet area and have to disconnect and wait afew seconds and then reconnect. Then have t open up UOF and tart all over.

ok, hmm. your client version is at the bottom of the login screen (that screen where you put your account name and password in)

just wondering what that version number is

im wondering, it kind of sounds like you may have ran the UO autopatcher?
if you did it could be the issue is that files got messed up

have you modded your client at all?

this is a weird circumstance
i hate telling people to reinstall hehe i just wonder if you should re-download from somewhere else, but incase you do try a re-download re-install i would make sure to delete any other versions of UO or razor off the computer as well... and ALL the files i mean you can keep your macros but that'd be it
