Ruinic hammers vs Runic tailor kits

I find the differences interesting, and troubling at the same time. While there are no weapons on the tailoring side to be crafted, obviously, the smithy side offers no enhancements to actual armor. {that I have seen} I understand with the kits you need to use the corresponding leather type aligned with the kit to receive the benefits, yet with the hammers only weapons are affected? Oh , I have several different ruinic hammers, and have tried every combination possible {within reason} but only the weapons seem to get any added bonus, nothing to armor. Am I doing this right? LMAO?? Sorry about title sp..

One more puzzling aspect to GM armor. I and friends have looted bodies or what seems to be regular GM armor {chain and ring} but when equiping the stuff made by certain smiths have noticed like a 10-12 point jump in rating. My smith is only 115, have seen no difference from Gm to this lvl? Any clues? I have a +10 hammer but have been reluctant to test it out.

To your first post, no, you're not doing anything wrong. You can only make magic weapons with the runic hammers.

To your second post, there is no difference between exceptional armors of the same type whether 50 skill, 70 skill, Gm, legendary. Whatever your skill is, if you make an item exceptional it will give the same amount of armor or damage. You probably got armor that was used alot and not repaired before you got it. If you repaired and the AR is still that much lower than other exceptional armor, then I'm not sure what's going on.

Just realized, were the armors different colors? Depending on the color of the armor, the AR will be more or less.
So Valorite will give the highest armor, iron the lowest.

you can also hide the colour of the ingot while crafting to make a set of valorite appear as a set of iron

Yep, so cool. Thx for the info guys. I never knew this. So a valorite suit, that looks like iron actual yield a 53 ar, now thats with a 2 dex loss because I made it with a plate helm and gorget. This is prolly the best selection though, a close helm and studded gorget would most likey drop the ar to like 48-49 which would not look as impressive.

Now the question is, what to price this at? I am thinking 5k? Is that too high?

full chain valorite set with exceptional dragon gorget gives 51ar no dex loss.

Awesome, does it matter which dragon scales to use? I have never made a single piece. I guess I could use a closed helm, I have always thought the plate helm looks the coolest of all head gear, and never minded the 1 point hit to dex. Any true dexxer is chuggin GA anyway, meh its just my opinion on looks.

Speaking of helms, someone was at my shop about a week ago, swearing that the Norse helm was somehow superior to the Close helm. Both have given my warrior the exact same AR with no dex loss.

While I prefer the looks of the Close over the Norse, I don't mind either. It seems some prefer the close, while others prefer the looks of the norse helm.. so I sell both on my vendors.

Can anyone here back ME up that the only difference between the close helm and norse helm is cosmetic? - Thanks!

Yes, you are right steelsexi. The only difference between the closed, norse, and regular helmets is cosmetic. They should give the same armor with no dex loss as long as the metal used is the same.
