Hows my mining?

Hey guys!

When I mine, I can usually only get about 6000-7000 ingots per day (if i play a lot).
However I noticed there are some vendors floating about Britannia that carry around 50k+ of various ingots (using standard pricing). I've noticed that ingots generally sell out fast, how in the world do they keep them in stock? Is there some secret to mining that I'm missing?

Figuring out razor can make it go by fast and less boring.

atm I have a razor macro set up to target my shovel, and then the location right below me. So I just run the macro, and move from spot to spot, while filling up my beetle. Is there a more efficient way?

I may be exaggerating; I've never timed it, but I'm sure some people can mine 50k in a day. They're surely the minority though.

10k an hour? omg thats insane lol. Now i gotta find a youtube video to see if someone recorded this :p

^ Certainly doable; I concur. As with many things in UO, it comes down to the time you put in. The razer macro (I suggest targeting 5 shovels instead of one) coupled with moving around the mine and recalling when necessary will yield ore very quickly. 10k an hour sounds about right. The issue with mining (much like mib chest pulling) is time and boredom. There is only a finite number of hours in a day and most people prefer a different activity for those 5 hours of game time (keep in mind no afk mining).

Right on, I for whatever reason just love to mine, so I think I got the boredom thing under control. I'll just have to optimize my mining a little more with an updated super-sweet razor macro ;)

Thanks for the info guys :D

NP, good to see someone else that enjoys mining. The reason I suggested at least 5 shovels/picks (instead of 1) in the macro is that it lessens the downtime by wearing out some of the durability of each of the 5 shovels while running the macro instead of just 1 shovel/pick that would break fairly quickly (leading to more downtime) by comparison.

I just got jailed for running my mining macro. I had it running on my laptop while I was playing on my main computer. Aside from the occasional toilet or drink break, I am always in front of the screen when I run the macro. It seems an automated macro is illegal here. I was unaware.

Can't do that ... It's in the rules page . Also you might want to look at your macro . They made a new rule about script mining . ( I had to change my Macro up to fit the new rules ) . Now that I think of it ... Did that rule ever get posted @Bryce ?

i was jailed for a few minutes also, accused of using easyuo scripts... then released promptly... I was at the screen, and had spoken to multiple Seer's (who were testing if I was there) and jailed anyway. Apparently the macro I had copied had a say command that was sending up flags to them... it was saying "no more ore" or something along those lines, to say hey dummy move me essentially... I'd remove that from your macro if you're using the same one and just be sure you're at the machine while its doing it... I would be curious to see an actual written policy in place in regards to this so everyones on the same page though..

No I just have a macro that mines tiles around me and then recalls to my front step at a certain weight. It doesn't move me around. Also, I got jailed for 5 days. Unfortunately, this character is also my t hunter/lockpicker.

The 'automated macro illegality' hasn't been officially updated on the rules page yet.
Will get to that, in the meantime, links have been posted to the thread which details it. To be informative. Instead of just jailing with them potentially unaware.

As for SinisterX, I woke up, started brewing my coffee, sat down, did a resource scan, found you within 30 seconds, followed you around for 2 minutes while you mined/recalled from place to place dropping off in your house.

After those 2 minutes, I spent 2 minutes asking if you were there. Trying to get your attention/get a response.

All the while, your character was still recalling around/digging etc.

Thus jailed. This is unattended resource gathering. It's a clear reason for the rules. Even if you were at the keyboard, or brought the keyboard into the bathroom, that doesn't negate the term 'afk'. So we simplify with 'unattended'. You were running an automated macro for net gain. You then stated that you had just gotten back fron getting a drink in the subsequent page.

Again, this is not being attentive. Regardless of not knowing about the 'automation illegality' of resource gathering, you were still not attending your character. It was operating itself.

We are strict in these rules as they affect the economy. It's that 'you give an inch, they take a mile' situation.
First it's a piss break, then it's a smoke break, then it's running to the store, then it's "I fell asleep".

I've heard them all. The most common recently are "damn, I shoulda paused it while I was defacating".
Which then leads to "It shouldn't be automated in the first place". Playing a game constitutes playing your character. If this isn't done, you're simply watching/benefitting.

We are strict with these rules to benefit those that play the game, put forth time/effort legitimately, and to better stabalize the economy.

I understand how delicate the economy is. I wasn't using the forum to complain, nor make excuses, I was simply using a a topic about mining macros to bring attention to the penalty I faced while using my own macro. I am not denying that my macro is automated. However, I was denying an intentional breach of rules.

Love my mining here imma elder soon to me legend I hope but razor helps tremendously but also if you have the "black widow" razer keyboard or mouse you can record macros on the fly so with the uo razor macro and the on the fly razer macros it's in sane the amount of ore I can get. Might be somthing to look into plus helps period in game on the fly Marco recording is ridiculous
