Can't choose a class

Whenever I try to choose ninja or samurai it tells me i need an expansion. How do I acquire said expansion? I should mention that this is my first time ever playing a game like this. I found it after watching a video on youtube

What Greed is trying to say is that the Ninja and Samurai professions were not available during the era that UOF is primarily based on. These professions were added in the expansion "Samurai Empire" which was released in late 2004. The basic rule set and primary features of UOF is the Renaissance Era, which was released mid 2000. Therefore, those professions are not, at least not currently, available on UOF.

It's my wife and I's anniversary today and I was feeling somewhat charitable.

I completely understand the sentiment, considering there is probably at least one "Why can't I be a ninja?" or "why can't I be an elf?" post every week in one forum or another. If OP hadn't mentioned this was his first time playing UO, I may have just passed this one on by.

Hehe... Welcome to UOF... This is a Throwback type of server to the original game. You cannot pick any of those classes.
