Initial New Wood Data

I have been chopping all morning and I am going to post results here so you can use the data as a basis for pricing or whatever you like.

Also I would like to state that the wood is random. I marked trees that gave blood and frost wood and when I went back later they gave only normal wood or a totally different type of wood such as oak.

Normal: 15,190
Oak: 2,700
Ash: 1,050
Yew: 380
Heart: 190
Blood: 110
Frost: 100

So I get more than 150 times as much normal wood as frost.

Interesting, I like the idea of random in UO. Wish mining were the same way so prices were higher too!

Wonder what they'll do for chances to get it being 100-120

I should have included that. This was all done at 120 Lumberjacking. I am not sure at what rate you can get the different color woods at lower skill levels nor do I know at what levels you gain the ability to harvest the different woods.

OK, just want to add to this. I think the rates are either random, or location based. I tried earlier with a GM LJ, and after 2K regular boards, I had NO new wood. I just jumped up to 110, and chopped 2K total boards, and I have 240 Oak, 80 Yew, and 60 Heartwood. I also found out that while a 110 LJ can chop down Heartwood, apparently you cannot cut it down into boards (gave me the "you don't know how to work this strange material" alert. I found this pretty odd. Mining doesn't work this way.

I think it's important to add that why you can't cut it into boards, a gm fletcher can still turn logs into bows. They don't have to be in board state. Boards also lose their type names once chopped from log to board. They still exist, but a crafter has to know what he's got, by memorization, to use the boards.

Great thread man, all info very much appreciated. Seems like nothing for gm, special wood for 110+ lj? Can a gm carp work with these elite wood types or do you have to have lj to match? Again, thanks for the info!

And as of right now, logs weigh 1/3 that of boards (not sure if that was intentional), so there is really no reason to cut them into boards. Logs used to be 2x the weight of boards.

Also, Heartwood bows have a chance to be "Accurate". That is the only one I tested so far, but got a modified one on my 3rd attempt.

I could swear Blacksmithing worked the same as far as trying to craft with the metal. Smithing as I recall works similar as well. You can't smelt dark iron until 60ish, and they went in tiers up to 100. I still have a bastard of a time smelting valorite, I even got my 1% mining gloves. :p

I made about 12 with each wood (except Frost). Best result with Bloodwood

Got a couple slayers, but none of them had any extra modifiers.

OK, so this is pretty cool, you can get extra modifiers on the slayers. You have to ID them if they have no modifiers, but they come ID'd if they have anything extra on them.

Haven't seen it in close to 10 hours farming. If it exists its either ridiculously rare or has some location/tree type constraint I imagine.

Soo... I was just starting lumberjacking for the evening. I got a system message that I dislodged a giant serpent from the tree.. and it started attacking me. When I killed it, it had 50 logs on it. Just normal logs. I wonder if it'll drop better quality sometimes? Also... why? lol Maybe to make ti more challenging or to deter afk macroers? Pretty cool regardless.
