Training tailoring - am I doing it right?

Just created a new toon which will be a crafter, and I'll start with tailoring which I intend to bring to 120.

Anyway, I've found it very expensive to train it so far and just want to check that I'm training it in the correct way.

I follow this guide and I'm creating fancy dresses right now (I'm on 54.8). What I do is that I buy like 40 bolt of clothes with another toon, recall to safe spot where I train tailoring and give it to the tailor. He cuts it into cloth and I start a Razor macro which make last item (with 0,5 sec delay). When I'm out of cloth I cut the dresses into new cloth and start over again till they're all bandages. Thing is that I'm out of cloth really fast and the gain, even at this low skill point, is slow i.e this is very expensive.

I just wanted to check with you guys so that I'm not doing it all wrong and burning more money than needed.

A last thing... I have a lot of bandages right now. Should I sell em to healers for almost nothing (1 gp/each) or do something else with them (I have a vendor)?

Thanks!

That is correct. Make sure you have plenty of food on you to eat often. I did cloaks as soon as I could, note that the minimum is shown skill not real skill. Up until you can make oil cloth you burn lots of bolts of cloth, so that's normal. Just keep chugging along!

Ok great. :)

But what to do with the bandages? I don't have healing on any of my toons...
Btw, you wouldn't have a good Razor tailoring macro? I've looked around but can't find one.

Thanks a lot :)

Just hold onto the bandys, incase you make a dexxer or tamer in the future!

I don't have a good macro, but I can tell you the one I made...

Use Item Type (sewing kit)
wait for gump (change gump timeout to 2)
Gump selection (make last)
pause (however long it takes for the item to be made, maybe a second or so)
Use Item (scissors)
wait for target (change timeout to 2)
target by type (whatever you're making...cloaks, robes, or oil cloth)
pause 800

repeat!

I made my crafter first when i started. You can train tailoring for free. All I did was go around each morning to all the spots that sheep spawn and gathered wool - turned that wool into cloth and then macroed tailoring. It took a bit extra effort, but the cost couldn't be beaten.

Great, thanks. Works fine except for the last part, cutting what I've made. I converted to item by type (right now it's cloak) but I get the following message: "Items you wish to cut must be in your backpack.". I don't get it really.. There's a lot of cloaks in my backpack right now... Any idea?

Good idea, will try it out. Just bought provo 110 on my main character so I need the cash. :)

My guess is that you're on the same screen as another cloak that isn't in your backpack. It's trying to cut the other one for some reason. Happened to me too, annoying!
