Why do so many people reccomend Archer for a bard?

The whole point to Archer Bard is to stay out of range of the mob. You don't need resist as a bard so you can use them hundred extra points on something more useful like hiding or magery.
He basically just run around naked killing some of the hardest stuff in the game and barely getting a scratch if you do it right.
Imagine doing a level 6 treasure map and never having to cast heal once...

Hiding more useful than resist... I still get a good laugh out of this one. I rarely get hit by spells, but it still happens once in a while and my 78 resisting procs all the time when it does happen. I'm going to be dropping resist back to 72 as I get closer to finishing my template.

Here's what I'm going for:

100 Archery
100 Tactics
100 Music
110 Provoke
80 Anatomy
80 Healing (77 real)
72 Resist
63 Mage (61 real)

90/100/35

I enjoy my Bard/Mage/Stealther the most. I sneak in to anything I want, line up my bars for the action, and provo away. Then once I get everything provo'd on to each other, I pop a couple EV's, hide or cast invis, and stealth around to a tactical spot away from the fight where I can see reds coming and move away quickly if needed for an easy recall if I need to.

I actually play just about all of them, one of my favorites to play other than my Archer Bard is my Nox Bard.

Yea you sure are imagining things, as this does not happen, I have done well over 300 400 level 6 maps, with a provo tamer with meta, I can do the whole map in 10 min or less, The point is though, even I die sometimes and also get hit sometimes more often than you would think, If you fail provo, Or if only 1 mob up from looting the items, you can't provo. Is many factors these are just a couple..

However I do agree archer bard is a very wise choice for a pvm character without making a tamer. very profitable easy to use character. Might do slightly less damage with bows rather than swords or axes but much safer being 10 tiles away.. If I didn't have taming on my provoker, I would have archery..

I found this post quite casually, and I'm glad I did, because the OP and a lot of following answers are exactly what I was wondering about Archery on a provoker.
I'm struggling to take the most from my char, and I'm not really sure to be able to use it correctly (probably I'm just dumb!).

I went for a Stealth Bard/Archer, but I miss a right way to include Magery at least to use EVs in order to add the overall damage in though spots. I like stealth because I like to pick the monsters I want to provo and kill, but I'm beginning to realize that this template may be totally unbalanced, leaving me no defense or healing ability at all. Too unbalanced, I guess. I can still do some consistent damage, but I can't go on thougher spots.

I have, now:

Archery
Tactics
Anatomy
Musicianship
Provocation
Hiding
Stealth

You see, no healing whatsoever, I'm forced to run with Gr.Heal and Gr.Cure pots, rely on runebook charges and I can only run away if I see a difficult situation ahead of me (PvM related, If I see a red I ALWAYS recall away!)

Sorry for my not so good english, though.

I'd really appreciate some advice in how to include magery at least to use EVs scrolls here.

Thanks

The nox aspect is a interesting twist in a conventional mage/bard.
