Dungeon Treasure Hunter

On my treasure hunter I settled on GM Wrestling/Lockpicking/Remove Trap/Hiding/Tracking/80 Stealth/60 Magery/60 Med. Still working on the LP and RT. Doesn't seem all that lucrative unless a) I'm not hitting the correct areas, b) I am, but someone gets to chests first or c) it's just not a lucrative trade. It's certainly different if anything.

Tracking I kept as it was a leftover from my thief template I was running and enjoy being able to scout an area as I move. With PKs running tracking themselves I prefer to have the same luxury. I almost kept Stealing just to steal off mobs so I could compliment the chest hunting. Again, it's kind of fun to go chest hunting, but as far as I can tell just about every other way of making money is better.

What are you able to steal from mobs? I'm thinking of rolling a thief but along with LP and RT for Paragon stuff.

Oh......ohhhhhhh now I'm interested in a thief more lol.......I need to pick a character and stick with it :(

I know folks who have made bank on being a thief. Yes, being a PK can net more because you can just dry loot some poor guy. Being a (good) thief takes finesse, patience and practice.

I've done mediocre. I haven't engaged in it much lately. I do have another one in training though.

I'm not really as interested in gold as I am enjoying the game. I enjoy my tamer but I enjoy my smith and dex as well

I may make a crafter at some point. I made a tamer but don't think I want to put the time/resources into completing one. Who knows though. I certainly don't have the kind of cash to eat SS after SS for easy-win, nor do I want to sit and tame for 500 hours for 120 (after also finding/buying PS for it). Therefore, it stands to reason that I just don't want a tamer.

Thief is easy and quick to finish (template-wise). Not as lucrative, but why the need if not saving millions for a tamer? I think a lot of thieves would agree that it's not the money/items. It's the concept and ability to be a thief.

It has caught my interest lol. Now I just need to figure out a thief template I want to use. So snooping/hiding/stealth/stealing are obvious requirements. What should I do with the rest I wonder.

Hiding/Wrestling/Stealing/Snooping/Tracking/Stealth (80 is perfectly fine)/Magery 60/Med 60. This would provide good utility and the basics of a mage-thief.

There are also several variations that include a stun-thief, disarm-thief, pure thief, etc.

Wrestling = good for a quick recall

I was thinking of adding lockpicking and remove trap so I can dungeon crawl when I'm not picking pockets :)

If you go all-out as a pure thief and rely on Runebooks to get around, try this:

Hiding
Snooping
Stealing
Lockpicking
Remove Trap
Wrestling
Stealth

Very squishy and no healing though. At all. Your only defenses are Wrestling and good playstyle. And luck.

Thats a good build but I would go with

Hiding
Stealth
snooping
Stealing
wrestling
Lockpicking
Magery

All kinds of benefits come along with Magery thats really hard to pass up.

Very true. Lots of utility with Magery, one cannot deny that. It depends on exactly what one is aiming for.

EDIT: Also with Remove Trap you needn't worry about breaking Stealth, unlike casting Telekinesis. But yes, lots of benefits with Magery besides this fact.
