ikr, on a side note that's funny. "town waters"

They build all these colorful Gallys and sail just out of town. As soon as they see someone it's a mad rush back to the dock screaming "GUARDS!!" These same folks then claim themselves as Pirates.. I think there is a different name for folks like that. Arrrr

Please add at least some risk vs reward... Very small Chance of rares for sinking other ship? Getting all loot on the opposing players bodies. Maybe be able to salvage ship construction materials or upgrades? Not guranteed, but a reasonable chance? Or even if not a reasonable chance, some chance even if it's small. Maybe some of these are already implemented. I don't know. I'm new to this side of the game and have a lot to learn.

Some of the things you just asked for are already in place... so yeah...

You can loot players bodies after you sink and kill them. Just gotta move your ship near them. And you get their upgrades and shit once the ship is sunk. There will be a pirate chest that you can pick up by sailing over it.

Unlike land, on the sea dry-looting is more or less encouraged since there's no possible way for them to get their body back.

Anything you kill in the sea will be pulled on the deck of your boat if you sail over it; elementals, krakens (not a difficult as you might think), players, murderers, booty.

Just make sure that if you ever plan to leave the ship & return via the ship rune you move the booty chest away from the mast, throw it in the hold or something. The booty-chest is place on the ship rune recall spot, and if it is still there when you leave you won't be able to return to your ship till the chest decays, and frees up the spot. Bodies won't block it.

A ransom system would be very cool, maybe could be rolled out to bonded pets too?

Would be a fun way to bolster the economy but trammys would hate it!

Rather than a ransom system, how about making it impossible to recall (or gate) out of the open sea. This would mean that any gold, resources, or loot on board would have to be sailed to shore, which would be time consuming. so people would be sailing with loads of loot. That makes it worth defending your ship, and worth attacking a ship.

If you're gonna make living at sea, you better be ready to defend your loot.

So, first, holy necro batman.

Second, the issue with this proposal is that for non-pvp sailors.. such as fishermen, would be greatly impacted unfairly.

what if recalling was an option, but not gating. that way non pvpers could still escape, but bulk loot and resources could not be gated out.

or, maybe fishers would simply be forced to play together with a guild and protect their loot. What's so bad about that?

Idk who would ever introduce pirates to a game like this and expect fishermen (some of the only people on the water) to be safe.

it would just change the solo fishers playstyle. recall after each chest, drop off, then recall back to the ship. you sink them and still get squat

maybe make it imposible to recall, but have a recall-like ability that can be added to a boat, that can only be used so often, or is expensive? or limit how often recall can be casted? i'm not exactly sure how to solve the issue, but it seems possible. personally, i think recalling and gating should be impossible on the water.

BRING BACK MOONSTONES! moonstones could be fished up and used to travel to the closest land mass! if i remember correctly, moonstones took about 30 seconds to work.

Why exactly do you see an issue?

yes pirating is harder than your average dungeon gank. No Insta recalling in right on top of the poor sea pvmer, ghosting hunting spots, or any of that low energy people farming. You need to hunt them down and work for it a lil if you want to kill the sea folk and their shiny's. what your suggesting is akin to asking dungeon crawlers to bring all their loot out in pack mule caravans. A great fantasy but impractical and unbalanced in the constant pvm vs pk tug of war that makes up uo.

If your having pirating performance issues, talk to some of the groups out there pirating right now for some advice. After that f you still feel that you need game mechanics changed to help float your pirate boat, perhaps it's time to put down that cutlass and take up the fishing rod.

Going off it's not about the money it's about the pvp why not make anything other than galleons immune to boat pvp. If you don't care about money and just want boat pvp passing up that fishing boat shouldn't matter to you as your looking for a fight. You can't fight 10 guns with no guns. Maybe more ppl would be interested in boat pvp if they weren't wasting 45 mins dealing with their fisherman being griefed by somone "looking for naval combat".
