You came back as a good time; the staff has been leading up to a massive content update called, 'Kingdoms'.
Not sure what it is, they've been very tight-lipped about it, but it's PvP oriented and sounds very cool from what we know.
There's currently a massive allied force beating back PK's.

That's cool. I've noticed a few changes already since being back, and despite the fact I'm not one who likes change, I'm actually quite happy with what I've seen so far.
