Outdated website and wiki

Well aren't there "rollback" sites in the wiki where you can view the page before someone modified it and restore stuff from there if needed? I myself could volunteer to help with the wiki site. But even with my 1112 days old account there are things I don't know and the wiki can't confirm.

Ps. @Desi : Searched with ur words and response was meta pets - wiki, meta talisman - wiki and wts - meta steed egg...

Yes, and then you use reason and common sense as a guide to sort out the most relevant search results. Perusing text snippet and attached date also helps to further narrow it down.

www.google.com > "what you need to know" site:uoforum.com

But yeah, a more up to date wiki with some people from the community appointed to keep it up to date would be swell.

I have some travel coming up from work in a week or so. I will spend some of that quiet time in the hotel room in reviewing the Wiki and seeing what I can improve - I know the main page is very poorly formatted and doesn't include ways to get to all the pages (it was done by one of those "revoked" folks that Shane referred to.

Other than meta steeds, are there any other topics that are missing?

I know this is done intentionally but a lot of details on the game are missing. Stuff that you would have to either pull from the game code or spend a LOT of time to find out in game. Having to use wayback machine in combination with stratics to find out about certain game mechanics seems a bit excessive. Any chance there can be a bit more transparency?

I did this as well and was met with the same results. I had to click the "More results from uoforum.com" to get it to show the link to the info about the meta steeds. This is the actual search text to get to what OP was talking about: meta steeds uo forever forum site:uoforum.com

Everyone can write things up and send them over to us and we can post them for the public. Giving someone access doesn't stop this.

PM me some stuff if you want to contribute and I will make sure it gets added.

There will always be mechanics that are not fully explained to prevent abuse/exploitation. There are also things that are keep secret so that players will explore and try out things. There is still a good bit that the dev staff have no qualms exposing. It's really taken on a case by case basis as you can imagine - there's a ton of stuff in UO.

Did you have specific items you had questions about?

First thing that comes to mind;

What exactly does food and (not) being fully fed do?

Interesting. Here are the results i get, although I think each individual's search through google may be slightly different depending on algorithms and specific user location.

Regardless it's nice to see the WIKI receive some actual loving again. But I felt to call the entire website 'bad' was an exaggeration as there is a plethora of information here.

UO is not WoW most details are keeped for secret in UO by top guilds/players for good reason ;)
Yeah I've been asking about the mount and remount mechanics of a nightmare while in war mode for some time now and still haven't gotten a response from any player or mod. There should be no secrets about game mechanics whatsoever.

The only bad thing about searching the forum with google is you have to sift through all the sale threads for whatever you searched.

I'd like to see a really robust, detailed wiki out there so people can get all their info in one place rather than searching the forums. Someone on staff or someone otherwise very knowledgable about UO should vet all the submissions. Another idea is to let players write the wiki submissions on a dedicated forum and have their peers review them for accuracy. Then all the editor needs to do is add it to the wiki and connect up the hyperlinks.

Great point. New players shouldn't have to goto google, to get answers. Pretty simple really. Shouldn't need to be explained any further.

Yes. Info about mounting and remounting a nightmare while in battle and the affect that each weapon used have on the mechanics of it. Apparently certain weapons skills and or weapons affect the timer to remount the nightmare.
