Greatly worn Finder

So you are about to be a great IDOC hunter?

Then this might help you!

Get UO Steam somewhere, set up this macro called Greatly worn Finder and find your Great worns around lands of Sosaria!

This script needs you to be running around Sosaria and it helps you to not click signs and instead that it will pop out Greatly worns to your guild messages. By that you will find easily Greatly worns and that way IDOCs. Just note that getting exact timers timers will be more difficult. You have to hang out at Greatly worns, or per 2 hours check every Greatly worn. Something's been said about Fairly worns as well.

So here is the script:

if @findtype 0xbd2 'any' 'ground'
clickobject 'found'
waitforjournal 'greatly' 1000 'system'
if @injournal 'greatly' 'system'
guildmsg 'Found a Greatly worn house'
snapshot
pause 500
clearjournal
endif
// Ignore this sign so it does not repeat until next login
ignoreobject 'found'
endif

Have fun! Mark it when you have found one.

How could that possibly ruin the shard? They still have to manually run around everywhere and pay attention to when an IDOC/Greatly Worn house is clicked.

That's like saying that because I can have a greater heal potion hotkey instead of manually clicking the potion, it is ruining the shard.

Sadly, there are many scripts people are using these days... in a rampant fashion.
The fact that yes, all they do is run around while watching a movie and the program auto screenshots for them when it finds something doesn't exactly scream "effort" to the process.
Agreed, it's not "ruining" the shard.
But to expand on your G-heal Pot analogy. This is more akin to not even needing a keybind, and it just chugging for you.

sorry I was being sarcastic to his other thread about taming ss, but I sincerely believe people have way to many scripts..i do not think it ruins a shard but to me its like playing a game not to play a game lol

exactly, thats why i lose interest quick when shards enable scripts, whats the point? we might as well allow easyuo for the people who don't use steam... o wait... some people already use it here lololol

We are planning to implement a random IDOC timer between 4-8 hours.

Why? Right now people who put in effort are rewarded for it.

Just another 'level the playing field' thing so people who can't handle losing out at a video game get to feel special?

Terrible idea IMO and I hope there is at least some discussion about it, even though that discussion will surely be dominated by people who can't be troubled to find out how idocs work so they run around accusing everyone who does of cheating and conspiracy... @Seek @Velvet

E:taming is too haaaaard make it easier if having a 120 tamer is going to end up being the only way get rich or collect rares.

Let just make everything easy for everyone!

I'd like to know why too.

If it's to "level the playing field", then the real solution is similar to any other "problem" in UO, such as ganking, reds rolling champ spawns etc.

Get some friends and play smarter.

I think you are assuming he his looping the macro and if so, then you might be right.

People even set up EUO to run around on a set path and check every house on the shard. It's super fucking lame.

I'm probably one of the few idocers who still clicks signs as I run around :/

Oh I know how lame some idocers can be. Just look at holy on uoforever. They had automated house checking scripts.

I personally prefer to just map out everything on a spreadsheet that I develop by identifying the status change times and when I see a house status last. But I'm a nerd when it comes to that.

This thread should provide enough of a reason for us to do it. Really, it just means you have to sit around an idoc for those 4-8 hours, which is what you would probably do when it hit the IDOC state anyways. There is an issue with the same guilds controlling IDOCS and the biggest issue arising from them using scripts to determine house state timers.

This is why we want to randomize the timer.

BTW, you totally contradict yourself here. You initially stated that only people that are putting in massive effort are claiming the IDOCS. You then go on to say the above. I would think as a legitimate IDOC bro, you'd be happy about this change.

Why would I be happy? Currently I help a group of people from multiple countries do things to get us an advantage at idocs. It's not simple or easy. Doing this gives us no real reason to work together anymore.

People will just park a char by idocs running a script to send a guild msg or announce in IRC 'idoc fallen'.

People are going to run scripts to get an advantage until you make them unable to run those scripts. Steam will eventually need an update and then it will be defunct. You can't run those kinds of scripts through razor the way you have it set up (good work btw).

I think it's would ruin a legitimate UO 'profession' and reason for players to work together.

It's NOT the same guild taking 'all the idocs', and I don't think the people who were running those scripts are currently active.

Let's not forget that there are solo players out there (like myself before joining an IDOC crew) who also partake in IDOCing and do well. It's not all one big guild. But the more time and effort you put in, the bigger rewards you can expect to see, and many hands make light loads. This applies not only to IDOCs but all sorts of activities in UO.

It's a lot of time, effort and coordination.

Edit: While IDOCing can be quite lucrative when you get a big score, a lot of the time it is tedious and not nearly as rewarding as you might hope once you factor in having to share loot and profits amongst friendlies and enemies alike.
