What do you love about UO?

I'm curious to know what keeps everyone playing and what would enhance your experiences on your current shard. I enjoy AoS personally because it was such a controversial era for the game. Anyone else still prefer it too?

1. What aspect of UO do you enjoy most? What keeps you playing?

2. If you could change one thing about your current UO shard, what would it be?

3. If you could add a concept to the game to enhance your playing experience, what would it be?

4. If you could remove one concept/aspect from the game, what would it be?

All responses appreciated!!!!!!!

1. Non linear. Doesn't hold hands. Don't have to be level 50 to ride a horse. Complete individuality in customizing character, not to many people look the same. Classes are not static i can be a Mage fisher warrior archer if i want. No class specific weapons or armor. crafting skills are not raised by combat meaning I can make a pure crafter and never have to fight anything unlike other games where crafting only raises as your level raises

2. Way more quests need to be added and more spell circles

3. More lore, more mysteries to be solved. Such as maybe a book that describes treasures of renown somewhere. Hopefully i explained that correctly.

4. I would remove power scroll system stay 100 for everything

1. By far, the best aspect of this game for me is RP. It is basically the only thing that keeps me coming back. It adds so much to the game to be able to play a character while still enjoying the aspects of PvM or PvP you love. Just really adds another layer to an already great game.

2. This shard? Mount stamina and/or bolas. I am finding it nearly impossible to kill people who have healing 1v1 even while running a stun/alcy. Between the constant 15 damage ebolts, 30hp heal pots, low exp pot damage and endless running, there's very little chance to do 120+ damage over a 12 second bandage timer.

3. I'd love to see more traditional UO lore involved. Long, shard wide story lines and the such.

4. It would have to be powerscrolls. They just remind me of when UO was ruined. I also do not like the idea of a 720 skill cap for a PvP character. If that was removed I guess I wouldn't mind it as much.

Best thing that I love about UO/UOF is simply post playing and a bunch of us 40+ year old guys BBQ'ing and talking about the game, theorizing, laughing at a Red that ALMOST got us right before we recalled out saying "boo" as we did. Heated debates about pvp or pvm. Coming up with new or different templates. Never has a game brought so many of us together, we have played them all and never, never did we ever sit around talking about them.

1. What aspect of UO do you enjoy most? What keeps you playing?

- Killing other players
- Killing companions and telling the young followers that the companions only teach bad habits and probably know less about UO than they do
- Killing and taking other players loots
- Killing and taking other players pets hostage, and holding for ransom

- Killing and taking other players paragons
- Killing and taking other players treasure chests
- Killing and taking other players champion spawns
- Watching the above players cry, whine and kick up a fuss in game or on the forums
- Adding to my statue/rare collection
- Getting good loots from champs/chests/monsters

2. If you could change one thing about your current UO shard, what would it be?

- Reduced penalties for PK's in end game areas
- No statloss in designated areas for PK's, with incentives for going to said areas
- More of a true rares system
- More collectibles/wearables from monsters
- Collectibles/wearables from monsters that are only available for a once off period (i.e 1 to 2 weeks)
- More gold sinks with designated time frames
- Add rares to champion spawns, varying degree's of rares and difficulty based
- More rares from events/in-game content as opposed to donations only

3. If you could add a concept to the game to enhance your playing experience, what would it be?

- See above
- Remove ALL target macros from razor/uosteam, and try to disable pvp macros as much as possible (timed syncs etc)

4. If you could remove one concept/aspect from the game, what would it be?

- See above

1. What aspect of UO do you enjoy most? What keeps you playing?
  • PvPing in general (Mage or Dexxor)
  • Killing PvPers who think too highly of themselves in the duel pits
  • Killing PvPers who think too highly of themselves in the field
  • Enabling others to become better PvPers
2. If you could change one two thing(s) about your current UO shard, what would it be?
  • PvP Mechanics --> The shard favors PvM over PvP and it shows
    • Armor Ratings for PvP do not work properly
    • Explosion potions have too much damage for non GM Alchemists
    • Mace Weapons should inflict stamina drain
    • Stamina loss from running should be implemented
    • Poison infliction bonus should scale exponentially towards GM Poisoners (aka full bonus at GM Poisoning and much less bonus at levels below GM Poisoning to prevent uber templates like Alchy Poison Dexxors
    • If Greater Cure Potions cure DP 80% of the time, the spell Cure should also (at GM Magery)
  • Less donation
    • Custom swag is cool and all, but too much on UOF focuses on donation items -- Get back to the game already.

Pretty much I just love shitting on other players and taking as much away from their gaming experience as possible.

When I get statlossed I generally jerk off to odd porn and play COD in my underwear until I can start fucking over more players again on UO.

I 2nd that when I started this server It advertised "UO HOW IT WAS" during old school days. Claimed there would be no neons etc. but this isn't how it turned out. I liked old school grunge looks, when you made your character look cool with rare ass black dye and the other ordinary colors.
This shard immediately started selling dye tubs and neon crap. Gay. Sorry but nostalgia for me was UOR PRE PUB 16. Not nostalgia of when EA Took the reigns and quickly destroyed the game.

I enjoy the team-based mentality of UO PvP and the strategic nature of UO's inherent mechanics - things like stat loss, stam drain, balanced weapon skills, meaningful and diverse template options - that don't stagnate around mindless, twitchy Closest Target off-screens by Joe Blow Stun Mage #42 and automated third party programs.

A shame this server doesn't have that yet, but it's what I loved about UO nonetheless.

i loves me some neons, it gives diverse character customization and provides for end game (i.e wearable rares, look how fucking rich i am!), it is unfortunate most the wearables are dono, or unlimited. The coming revamp of true rares should help!

I don't see a guy decked out in neon clothes and think "that looks awesome" or "man he must be rich as hell"
I typically think "man that dude should be in tram... at BB"

I enjoyed seeing dudes with valorite robes and I knew, that dude was a veteran who had been playing a long ass time. That meant something. Or I would see a dude with a blessed weapon and be like damn that wep is worth 500mil. At least. (By this time item bless deeds were ultra rare)
Even clothing bless deeds were still like 400k.
After val/gold/etc veteran reward clothing they starting chuckin some real gay 5+ rewards out with ice white, blaze, etc. then into bods it was put as well.

Seriously seeing this garbage sucks any chance of "nostalgia" right out of the server and replaces it with frustration. Already went through that.

Seeing a guy with ghey ass neons in no way makes me feel nostalgic or have any kind of extra respect for that player. I associate that crap with AOS.
