The High Speed Low Drag Miner

I have actually had more issues with clowns killing my pack horses more than I have had issues with PKs...
Beetles are awesome for that. they have almost 200 hp so they cant be killed too easily, and tell them to follow after being attacked, dbl click, and then they are mounted so you can run, or they just stop cause they dont want a murder count

I never bothered with getting 120 Mining. If you get the +5% gloves you can smelt Valorite/Verite in one shot with 100%

Also, PKs killing gatherers has been a part of the game since it came out. We know this is a possibility, so we can either react to them and find a way to defend ourselves, or be killed. Me i like to stick to the shadows and not be seen when mining. There are a ton of mining areas where there are forges tucked inside a little mountain cave. You can rack in some serious ingots visiting those.

For those wondering what the going prices of ingots are.

  • Iron - 8 - 10 per
  • Dull Copper - 15 per
  • Shadow - 20 per
  • Copper - 25 per
  • Bronze - 35 per
  • Gold - 40 per
  • Agapite - 45 per
  • Verite - 50 per
  • Valorite - 60 per
Sure you can smelt in one shot, but you will still fail smelting verite/valorite a lot with 100 mining and +5 gloves. I still break piles of verite and valorite into small piles before smelting as it makes me sad when I have a failed smelt and lose half my valorite ore.

I have used one for a while, but was just talking about my experiences

I'm saying paying the price for a mining 120 PS isn't necessary if you have the gloves and are at 115 mining. Just finished a few easy BODs and got the gloves. Using the gloves at 100 mining is pointless unless you want to smelt copper or gold in one shot. i cant remember what one 105 does for you.

Just mine in town and don't worry about it.
sorry eppy but there you have thieves to worry about. I watched a thief steal from me 2 times while yelling guards and sad thing was there was a guard right next to me and the thief got away with it 2x. so no matter where you are you have issues as a miner.

Back when Dwayne Wade owned his Ocollo vendor house, he had a forge on his steps and you could smelt from your bank box. Unfortunately, new management decided to put the forge on the other side of the steps and you can longer do so. Have had a couple thefts there and no longer frequent that establishment.

@Steele'Dish I've had the same problems with someone killing my packhorses and I got a beetle and set up a macro for "All follow me Bank Guards". Had someone today attack him from outside guard zone (I was inside) but my beetle didn't listen even though I used the macro several times and I had to chase him out to mount back up. Is this something with non-bonded pets, because I haven't fed him, or beetles in general?

First things first, bond that beetle asap. The further you are away from the beetle may impact how cooperative it will be as well when telling it to follow. Plus if you say to follow and the aggressor attacks the beetle again it will go back after the individual. Best thing to do is mount it quickly like you did and get back into guard protection.

Little bit of time left on the bond, just checked. As for multiple attacks perhaps that was it but it was right next to me and I issued the command maybe 5 times. It never even tried to turn around. Attacker had a warfork when I saw him so not sure how he pulled him and there shouldn't have been a way to draw him that quickly multiple times as I understand it. At least my beetle lives and I know for next time to be ready in case he doesn't listen again.
