What was the purpose of making explosion potions hit allies?

While it is nice to be able to lead someone's potion into their guildmate in low-scale PVP, the price for this ability is too high. Warriors rely on alchemy for a significant portion of their damage and this change has effectively nerfed them in group fights -- the area in which they are already weakest. Potions will now aggro guild pets, have their damage reduced to nothing when hitting multiple allies, and will trigger an instantaneous melee attack against adjacent allies, and for what? Why was this change needed at all?

Even if you're among those who believe alchemy is too powerful (and it certainly isn't), nerfing it in group combat is not the solution given that it already had little relevance in that type of battle to begin with.

Whats the purpose of:

-unlimited mount stamina
-wands with no bolas
-leavehouse is used as a pvp tactic to chase or escape
-AoE spells are broken
-faction sigils bonuses were removed
-removal of faction scroll at champs
-RDAs being found 99% by script only

A lot of things here could be fixed easily with a small change... instead we get changes like mobs targetting reds over blues and pots hitting your own guild only, lol.

-unlimited mount stamina - It's ok
-wands with no bolas - wands needs to be removed
-leavehouse is used as a pvp tactic to chase or escape - you guilded in 1300+ users to fight back 8 users guild lol you can't talk about strange pvp tactics
-AoE spells are broken - i agree with you
-faction sigils bonuses were removed - waiting for militia
-removal of faction scroll at champs - waiting for militia
-RDAs being found 99% by script only - i agree with you

Players need to actually time their pots now, nothing wrong with that.

If people can't time pots, then learn so before whining about killing teammates in group fights :D

Really? If i throw a granate in a group of my comrades nobody will get hurt? It's a good change, now you can run into the enemies squad and get them killed when a pot countdown is starting. I like it if it's becoming more realistic.

More awesome change we need:
If you ride into a house you need to fall of your mount, because rider and horse will never fit into the door. Same with dungeons.
If you spur your mount to much it need to loose stamina and fall to ground breathe heavily.
If you enter a very small dungeon with low ceiling you need to unmount. You need to walk slow, because if you run, you will hit your head on stalactites and take damage. If you're wearing a helm, there will be low damage.
When another player is throwing something on you, you need to fall of your mount. Same with spells, you got hit by a flamestrike burning thru mount and rider will kick you of your horse. Same with para, nobody will still sit on a horse after getting paralyzed.
If you disarm and try to grab another item from your backpack you need to get a delay, much longer delay. You need to open your backpack, put the item into it, grab the new item, close the backpack and wearing it. At least 1500ms - 2000ms delay just for disarm and arm again would be realistic.

Mobs that recognize a murderer and will attack reds first isn't realistic.
Throwing pots wearing a full armor, shield and weapon isn't realistic too. I like to see anybody here throwing a granate wearing a full plate.

Explo potions that hit allies is a very realisitic change and i never understood why my bombs only hurt the enemy. Smart nanotech bombs?

so, just based off of your real life comparisons, what do you think happens when a person.. in real life.. get's shot with a bolt of energy, generated from the hands of a real life wizard wearing nothing but a pink wizard hat, ultra white sandals, that is also riding an invisible horse?

lol, I knew someone would say this. The exact same line of drivel that was spouted when throwing potions in town could get one guard whacked on uoforever. You have failed to provide a reason for why the change was necessary.

In RL my mechanical horse got a strong shield generator.
btw. in UO:F i got all my ethys dehued, i don't like riding a invisible horse, because the saddle is invisible too. And i really hate kicking the horn into my balls all the time i jump on it sucks.

Don't forget it's a game about Wizards. Having a small horse in my bag i can pump up to a real one is more realistic in a magical world then don't getting hurt from explo pots mixed by a underpaid alchy.

yes! just like inflating a tire.

We needed this change because it's realistic, guys! If I accidentally hit a guildmate with an explosion potion, it obviously means that I want to smash my war hammer into his skull as well! If a grenade goes off in the middle of ten people, of course it'll only inflict minor cuts and bruises! If a stray bomb goes off near a guild dragon, naturally that will make the dragon go into a homicidal rage against its ally!

Such realism.

I must admit, it would be kind of funny for a while if it was possible to throw an explosive potion at another explosive pot user with a chance that the original pot has a chance to set off a chain reaction amongst other pot users causing one hell of an explosion with shock waves, mushroom clouds, fallout damage *only possible if others are carrying poison pots* and the chance of mutated animals/monsters spawning after a short while who drop rare items...

Ultima Fallout Online... It really can be a thing.

Back on subject, I really have no useful input regarding this. Sorry.

**Quite surprised something like this has been implemented**

Don't see why alchy needed to be nerfed for group pvp. I would like to know the reasoning behind this change.
I spoke to Eppy and Halygon about this for awhile and they seem unable to realize that the change was a nerf. Apparently the goal was to add more of a skill element to throwing the potions, yet they've done nothing to offset the penalty they imposed and reward good throws.

They also compared meteor swarm (and how it hits allies) to explosion potions, despite meteor swarm being only a small subset of the magery skill. Seems like a case of "this is AOE, and that's AOE, so they should work the same." A very flawed comparison, in my opinion, given that alchemy is a staple of various builds while meteor swarm is just the spork in the magery Swiss Army knife.

p.s.

this change was 100% aimed at nerfing EQMS -- when it came out people from all the major guilds were like "WOW EQMS IS GONNA BLOW THEMSELVES UP WITH POTS, THEYRE FUCKED".

This change was stupid and did nothing to stop us and instead just made PVP worse for everyone... stop putting in specific changes to stop 1 guild of newbies and start trying to make PVP mechanics great for all.
