Incentives for PVP -- Proposed System Included

I like that players are looking to add more incentive for faction fights. But shouldn't that be more about finding higher end pvp rather than getting lots of blessed and rare items?

I think half the players we klomp are just farmers in factions that don't faction fight- they just use factions for the tamer perks. Add in all the proposed extra perks like rda and champ spawn bonuses, ability to use wands (and use GH wands in non faction fights), rare and blessed items and unique cloth and it will just encourage more of the same.

In all honesty, why wouldn't more people just pay the 250k and join EQMS to farm in relative peace with little risk. They still wouldn't pvp but they could certainly load up on the some of the faction perks.

I think it would be cool to see some sweet faction gear that relies on actual pvp statistics. Each faction's top members would be able to wear items or purchase deco they have earned through participation and kill points. However, when you lose your tier ranking the item is automatically destroyed. Wouldn't that be the ultimate risk vs reward?

there pll using 60+ for years to hold plots, ton of ppl macroing afk ingots/logs during eppy offline time, youngs with slayer armor farming high end stuff.
The risk of beeing banned seems very high.

Who decide if you killing a friend or a nomore friend or someone other thinks its your friend but he never was.

Plus I dont get why we need incentives to pvp. Who wants pvp is already pvping. who doesn't want it, is not. It s just a measure to put crappy free shinies around sosaria and adds nothing more to the game.

The problem is the PvP'rs are not PvP'n in consensual formats like factions - because there is little incentive, most are out farming, and the ones who are left PvP'n, are just running around PK'n everyone they see. While it's part of the game and good in small doses, it's not healthy for the server if its happening to you every 10 minutes of adventuring. The idea of the post, and I believe a good one if it accomplishes it's goals, is just to get people back into factions fighting, and reducing the number of PK squads. And it doesn't necessarily have to be factions, just some format that people enjoy and gravitate towards, and if that brings more people in PvP'n, even if their skill level isn't there, all the better for PvP, they'll learn eventually.

I personally have absolutely no issue with unique, non combat impacting items/wearables for PvP'rs, based on factions or [eventscores as long as it's not based on commit murder on person X to get rewards. Whether people like it or not, pixels are a draw, that's why people bother with tamers to begin with. Pixels/wealth.

Well if your friend is in another faction and you never want to faction together, because all of his accounts will be in the other faction(no being in multiple factions) then kill eachother all you want. Can put a cap on the number of points you can get in a day.

Another cool way to stop abuse would be to have a system wide faction message anytime a factioner kills another factioner.

Anyone who thinks incentive won't bring some extra pvp, just hasn't played this game much.

Even MOBAs have rewards for playing.

The only possible incentive I have to faction fight here is to pickup wands.

Playing a PK gives much greater rewards, and even less risk most of the time.

I think the question now is how you create incentive, not whether it should exist or not.

Statloss is broken af, i wish to renew my spirit, those necklaces and duel pit statloss removal need to be removed. The only way a factioner should be able to get out of stat is gem of empowerment or waiting out the stat loss time period. 2. Fix mount stam and make war horses valuable in faction pvp. Even though I'm against bolas, maybe something like a Lance http://www.uoguide.com/Lance would be better since you would have to be next to your enemy to dismount. 3. More silver per kill and give a higher chance of receiving a faction item. 4. Faction points/Guild leader board on the uof website similar to the one on uoforever.
5. Bring back the pvp channel.

BUT....... we all know old mate running the show just wants pvm/trammel server.

Eh? If the 'old' mate wanted a PVM / Trammel server, then permanent stat-loss would have already been implemented. There would also be one account per player, safe dungeons and obviously Felucia wouldn't exist here. I would agree with mount-stam loss if it weren't for large scale guilds which in essence, does allow, be it remote, a chance to get away. I think it requires a little more than just adding incentives to end-game PVP mechanics, but a re-haul regarding a lot of areas PVP orientated, which will most likely not happen because of the current stage of the server itself. All I am saying is, be careful how you dedicate your post towards the people who run this place, because next, we might find ourselves faced with much harsher PK penalties which obviously, would cause folks to leave while shrivelling up the rest of the red PVP community because of dehydration *AKA Crying*.

Once again you feel the need to spew verbal diarrhea. You can't overhaul a pvp system that's 20 years old, that's why people still play here. Get back to the fairies mate they're calling you.

I guess someone forgot to water you as you grew up. Folks were quick to judge my 'supposed' passive-aggressiveness and yet, here you are being completely direct towards your displeasure of how things are run. Simple really, create your own shard with your own rules and regulations and then you can live free in knowing that you will not have to adhere to anything else outside of your own little bubble.

There have been more incentives regarding PVP on this server compared to many others, I feel that many mechanics were borrowed from other shards *who doesn't do this in this era* but there is certainly room for improvement which, will either be added or not, it is completely up-to the discretion of Shane really. I mean, you mention lances as an alternative to bolas, how do you think this will pan out if there was a method to slow or dismount players when the modern way of playing Ultima Online is all about mass warfare? Group fighting is fine if you are fighting groups equal to your size, if you intend to focus on smaller groups when in a large group, you are just asking for trouble and the complaints bin will just fill up *proven time and time again*.

No offence, but there is a lot of things that could be over-hauled if the need be, I only found out the other day that a simple bit of code would be all that is needed to fix NPC's seeing through walls, so when a thief or someone commits a criminal act, the NPC requires line of sight to call guards which means, he/she won't be able to see through walls. Kingdoms when it is finally released will have a ton of stuff that deals specifically with PVP, if it wasn't possible to overhaul a system, then how do you think Kingdoms will work? I mean, I hear there will be siege weapons and such, if true, did they just appear out of nowhere or, were they coded to work in a specific way?

I'd suggest educating yourself a little more before you try and insult someone, cause honestly, you failed in a catastrophic way pretty much like you do on a regular basis around here.

UOF has a large population and a very robust PVE system but Im not sure why some people are defending its PVP system as being anywhere near it in terms of depth.

Compared to uoforever, which was considered a PVP power-house, yes, UOForever has quite a lot of incentives regarding PVP, that doesn't mean it could be better though, a lot better in fact. Where factions are concerned, maybe kingdoms is on the horizon which, would obviously take centre stage and thus the reasons for the removal of a lot of these changes.

What really needs to happen here is for a kind staff member who is in the know, to come along and provide a little insight to what the future of factions is, it would be wonderful to think that the lack of decent replies is due to the fact that things are busily being worked on and hopefully, will come as a pleasant surprise when they are finally *if at all* released.

I dunno what has happened to this place, but it feels kind of hollow as of late. Perhaps it is just the forums, I have not logged in game for a while, but it feels .. 'different'.
