(Also posted to Discord, but in case it gets buried):

Following the idea of the 50k usage Item ID wand, how about scribe pens with 5,000 uses?

The current scribe pens cost 4gp from the Scribe, which equates to approximately .08888gp per use assuming an average of 45 uses per pen... so for the sake of convenience, lets say that price goes up to 1gp per use with this "Master Scribe's Pen"... At a price of 5,000gold from the gold sink vendor, I would gladly buy bags full of these to craft recalls and other scrolls without having to constantly re-buy scribe pens by the dozen and flooding my pack. At 1gp per use, or a 11.25x markup from using regular scribe pens, it is a fair price for the convenience of having a clean pack. If anything it has the potential to increase the gold sink of scribe pens by 11.25x assuming these become the standard.

Also, this would make a great addition to the dono vendor. These "Master Scribe's Pens" could cost 50 Donos if on the dono vendor.. this would average to a cost of the rough equivalent of 8,500gp (assuming a 170gp per dono price) and is a good way for people to use up small amounts of dono repeatedly.

This already exists on production shards. Enhanced writing desk was added in publish 98 I believe as a vet reward.

If I am not mistaken it had 5000 charges and you could recharge it using scibes pens.

So the code is there but things have slowed down here with new content if you are not a PvPer or a tamer. (Not a jab at the dev team I'm just saying if you like PvP or pets your in a good spot ATM)

Not to derail this, but what is it you think PvP'rs have gotten? Factions removed and a 10% finished new playground to play in, with nothing to do in it..

With that said - as long as a scribe pen could be stolen, I have no problem with this suggestion.

How about instead of gold sink, it is craftible by legendary Tinkerer and has about 5k gold worth of resources to make one?

yes we had this topic earlier on discord

@SidX @Volkerball NO! Don't make another craft obsolete

How about this instead: Tinker menu 'Master Tools' (basic tools with 1000x their normal material cost and 1000x charges, give them a gold hue or something to recognize them)
Master Fletcher's Tools (50,000 charges) - Materials required: 3 Forged Iron - Skill required: 115
Master Hammer (50,000 charges) - Materials required: 1 Forged Iron - Skill required: 110
Master Mallet and Chisel (50,000 charges) - Materials required: 4 Forged Iron - Skill required: 120
Master Mapmaker's Pen (50,000 charges) - Materials required: 1 Forged Iron - Skill required: 105
Master Mortar and Pestle (50,000 charges) - Materials required: 3 Forged Iron - Skill required: 100
Master Pickaxe (50,000 charges) - Materials required: 4 Forged Iron - Skill required: 120
Master Scribe's Pen (50,000 charges) - Materials required: 1 Forged Iron - Skill required: 105
Master Sewing Kit (50,000 charges) - Materials required: 1 Forged Iron - Skill required: 90
Master Skillet (50,000 charges) - Materials required: 4 Forged Iron - Skill required: 110
Master Smith's Hammer (50,000 charges) - Materials required: 4 Forged Iron - Skill required: 120
Master Tinker's Tools (50,000 charges) - Materials required: 2 Forged Iron - Skill required: 90

Edit: I used all minimal skills of the normal variant +80. Hence only PS tinkers have access to making these. No chance of exceptional, 100% success at the required skill.(bearbeitet)

I'm not saying PvP is fine but it is being looked at. Militias are being worked on firehorn wands are in this months patch notes, fixes to talismans in pvp, etc. You know it's being addressed unlike other aspects that need some love and just get brushed to the side or other players claim are "just fine"

Back on topic. What if enchanted writing desk was mad le from a soulforge by a crafter talisman and could only be recharged with tinker made pens not the crap from the vendor? Maybe make it pens under 50 charges can't be used?

For some reason 50k charges seems like too much.

I think 1k - 5k charges - question about if they'll be steal-able do people want that as a thing?

If the tools are valuable enough people will steal them if they are able too, especially being forced into the crafting area for specific bonuses, and savings on materials. I can see that causing some issues, but current tools could be stolen if a person was persistent enough.

Btw - I love the crafting suggestion on this QOL item, give some love to some crafters with 120 skill.

Great ideas all around. I agree that instead of a gold sink this would make a great craftable. Maybe recipes for it as well? Don't know, but it could add a great dimension to expanding craftables and craftable player-run vendors. Also, I'm definitely 100% for expanding this to other tools as well. It would be awesome to see some 5,000-charge tool for more crafting skills.. Scribes pens, mortar and pestle, and other skills that can easily burn through hundreds of tools in a day.

As for being stealable, I would think it does make sense to make them stealable. It gives something new to thieves and also adds some risk element when crafting out of protected areas. It would be nice to see some Master Craft tools on someone's corpse, too.

If steal-able, tying an 8 stone weight to them would make sense, to make them more difficult to steal (that's how stealing works right?)

I remember a time where I requested that the different ingots would give different amounts of charges added to crafted goods. So much more simple and using something that's already there.

To be honest, you could do a 120 skill + verite ore (or top wood), creates the chance for a max charge item at 1000 charges, while the lower ore, only gives a chance for 800 charges. and lower ore & skill only 600 charges.. Tie it all together, the more you invest, the more your return, and a great resource sink on top of making the power scrolls more useful.

Material cost x100 for charges x100 also works.

Using colored materials also works but the downside is that it would imply a static 'trade' value between ores. It would favor the earth elemental dropped agapite/valorite too much over lower end ores again.

I really like the concept.

I lean towards making it craftable by those that have 120 of a skill or even a set of skills (120 tinker and 120 scribe for legendary scribe pens, for example). It would give value to those that spent the time to get 120 skill and also create a new market for these items (as well as boost the market for the ingredients of these items). I could see it working like slayer spell books, where there's a chance for the item to have a certain amount of charges.

My preference is towards craftable, non-blessed, stealable tools. I think anything crafted should be stealable and all ingredients/tools should be stealable. The game gets too candyland for my preference when everything is blessed.

Those are just my preferences but I'd be pleased with almost all of the suggestions above honestly. Good stuff.
