Need some starting out advice

I just started UO yesterday, I have a miner char with swords and LJ......why? No idea, I want to do fletching and smithing. But im finding out that I need gold more than resources right now, so Im asking for advice. Should I leve this char alone for awhile and go provo archer? Or stick with resource char until hes finished, best I can. His template:

Mining
Blacksmith
Fletching
LJ
Swords
Hiding
Magery
Tactics

Will have to drop Tactics at some point but the Swords/LJ combo is to fight off mid level mobs...Any advice on changing this? Or just start a provo archer?

Provo archer is really easy money maker. IMO though you need to build out and immediately begin your meta talisman quest (view the wiki). Every day spent not working on your meta toon is wasted.

Read up on whatever talisman sounds fun to you then think about if Your LJ toon fits into that well, or if you’ll need to begin working on a new toon (ASAP). You’ll need some money to complete that quest so you better head over to the bard table and get your provo archer on.
