Convincing people to engage in pvp.

It's true: eliminating the risk of death would increase PvP. It's why server wars and test center on OSI hosted massive PvP battles on a regular basis.

It's also true that making these changes would absolutely ruin UO for most.

People will only choose to PvP if the rewards for doing so are rewards that the participants actually want. Short of that, you'll continue to see a divide between the PvPers and PvMers, which - due to the shards ruleset and structure - favors the reds. Which is fine. The only incentive for PvMers is the reward for their hunt. A reward for PvP is lacking, and an interest in widespread PvP will only increase if the reward for that time is desired.

bless deeds are a thing in UO. and reduction to reg costs, are a thing in UO. in no way am i adding or taking anything away from UO. these are systems that are in uo as we speak. Clothe bless deeds exist. Armor/Weapon bless deeds exsist. This IS UO. or did you not know that already?
But they do fear losing their full sets of slayers armor, weapon etc.

But wouldnt pvp be more fun if you could pvp with your best gearg? What's the point of even having good gesr in aa game if it'll just sit in your bank collecting dust because youll lose it the moment you tske it out.

It's like owning a ferrari, but it just sits in your garage.
Or what made this era cause aa game to fade away, while games like wow are still number 1 aftera decade
Wow, just wow. Like reading the memiors of a noob.

Economy is everything on UO. Screw that up, you screw up the server. Everyone to have blessed weapons and armor so it cannot be lost? Afraid to die?

You ask waht's fun? Fun is going out in your best gear knowing you could lose it in an instant and reaping the reward of dirting folks left and right. You might lose it, but so what? It's just pixels - you can always get more. The fun is in the chase, the heart pumping excitement of fighting 2-3x your numbers and winning (or at least surviving). The fun is looting that great weapon or armor from someone's corpse. The fun is killing that asshole that spoke a ton of shit in vahalla and posting it all to see. The fun is being a noob and getting away from a PK that you know will kill you if he gets close, but you survive and don't lose the 5k you grinded all day for. The fun is laughing at people like you who take the game too serious.

Edited in bold.

That actually is more fun than going out in your best gear and risking nothing. I'm an RP/PVM player, and due to self-imposed limitations I'll always be on the receiving end of the ganks and smack talk... but if there was button I could press to remove the PVP threat, I'd never go near it. The fun is in the challenge; you can't be proud of beating the game on easy mode.

I agree completely.
