Rules: and Eliminating Gray areas

Pking isn’t a pvp scenario b definition. If it were we wouldn’t refer to it as “Pking” it would just be “pvping”. “Pvping” by definition in uo would be two consensual sides combating one another. “Pking” In uo is unconsenual fighting of one player attacking and the other defending. In a real world situation by your definition it would be the same as saying having sex and raping somone is the same thing. Both things have a common event but the situations could not be futher apart from one another.

Player(s) versus player(s), better known as PvP, is a type of multiplayer interactive conflict within a game between two or more live participants.[1] This is in contrast to games where players compete against computer-controlled opponents and/or players, which is referred to as player versus environment (PvE). The terms are most often used in games where both activities exist,[2]particularly MMORPGs, MUDs, and other role-playing video games. PvP can be broadly used to describe any game, or aspect of a game, where players compete against each other. PvP is often controversial when used in role-playing games. In most cases, there are vast differences in abilities between experienced and novice players. PvP can even encourage experienced players to immediately attack and kill inexperienced players.[3] PvP is sometimes called player killing.

I pulled that definition from wiki, sorry but I am correct in defining PK IS PvP, but not all PvP is PK. Do some research and try not to give a response of opinion, but instead show the facts. Such as this wiki definition. Bare in mind, it is UOF who has redefined the definition, therefore creating gray areas of situations. The purpose is to eliminate gray areas, not make more.

A video game: While may include RPGs; is not limited to RPGs.

An RPG: While may include PvP; is not limited to PvP.

PvP: While may include PK; is not limited to PK.

Initial rule states "PvP Scenario", So PK is just one of many scenario possibilities.

Let's eliminate those gray areas, for our young players to be informed.

I will obviously get crapped on for this reply I imagine but Fay's response seems to be totally fine.

Are you being attacked by the same PHYSICAL PERSON using 2 or more characters?

To answer your "UNVERIFIED" scenarios:

- use steal, from an alt, to assist your murder - unanswered currently - will update soon
---------- Lets go back to Fay's response. Are you being attacked? No
- use an alts pets to "Guard" yourself - unanswered currently - will update soon
---------- Lets go back to Fay's response. Are you being attacked with 2 or more? Need more context in this scenario. Is the pet attacking you and another character attacking you at well? That would be multi client pvp

May need to be careful with the wording on this one.. Has the pet been directed to attack you (ALL KILL), and another character attacking you as well? Otherwise it'd be a gray area, if you are being attacked by a players PvP'r, and you tag their pet or alt by accident with a purple pot, while the pet is guarding.. I would hardly consider that him attacking you with two characters.

If that is pulled from the uof wiki. That has been said to be ran by parsnip who is technically a companion not staff. Irregaurdless. If you want to talk about removing the “grey” areas of multiclient pvp you need not look any further than the actual rules where it’s laid out without grey areas if read by the book every single player would be in conflict with your ruling that Pking somone puts them in a pvp situation.
The rules state that multiclienting is having more than “one” uoforever account logged in at any given time.
So off that alone having any more than a single character logged in while pvping would be in violation of the rules on the uof webpage rules and guidelines. There’s no grey area on that so walling. Healing. Body blocking. Every single “grey” area can be justifiably squashed because it would not be possible unless multiclienting(having more than one character logged in) while your pvping.
But since you are allowed to multiclient pve. This would mean if Pking were considered pvp. Unless you closed all but one client whenever somone tried to murder you pveing you would be in violation of such rule.

The biggest multi client pvp scenarios we deal with are:

Player X is on Character 1 and pet is on guard, attacks Player A. Player X is Character 2 attacking Player A.

Its not a grey area at all. All Guard or All Kill are the exact same thing. The end result still is the same result.

That is why scenario states: using an alts pets to guard you during PvP.

A guarding pet will protect it's target. So if a player attacks, and you hit back. This causes guarding pets to attack. You now have alts pets and you attacking target.

Im on my dexxer murderer, and my alts pets are set to guard me while I attack someone.

It is not EXACTLY this easy but for the most part yes. Alt tabbing and attacking the same person is multi client PVP regardless of what client is currently actively open.

Yes, you run the risk of doing this when you set your pets to guard. It becomes a bit bigger and would be a case by case scenario if you Player A is going out of their way to bait Player B. Example: I know Player B has his pets on guard and his alt character is sitting beside it. I attack his pet on Character 1 and attack him on Character 2.... That is a bit more tricky and will be evaluated on a case by case scenario.

The key is providing sufficient proof to a staff member that is a clear indication that a rule was broken. Paging in and simply saying "this guy is multi client pvping" is useless to us.

That's kinda the problem, players ARE allowed to login for Certain reasons, such as a recent circumstance.

Murderer spots an IDOC, and one person there. The murderer attacks the looter for the loot, and brings in their alt blue to collect while murderer attacks. This is legal, according to staff.

I agree the rule is black and white, don't login alts while in a scenario, but SOME things are being permitted. Hence gray areas.

To me the "INTENT" of this rule is to prevent players from using multiple clients for an "unfair" advantage. Especially during ANY "PvP Scenario". But that is not the case...

Official Ruling: Legal
since the Blue Alt is not directly participating in the Looters murder; he is not breaking any rule. While he is STILL most definitely multi clienting to gain an "unfair" advantage. During a PvP Scenario.

You and I agree here.

But your saying say. Player 1 has three characters at a Tmap. Player 2 attacks player one. Player 1 crossheals himself and his characters to keep them alive huddling them together because obviously he does not want his characters to die. Player 2 is Pking player 1. Player 1 is not pvping player 2 but in your eyes is multiclient pvping just because he is trying to rescue his own characters.
The same situation can be. Player one brings three characters to a champ spawn in the intention of raiding the champ spawn. Player one uses account one to pvp and account two and three to cross heal.
The intent is what makes it a pvp situation. Not the technicality of well two players were fighting because in the first example player one was defending himself.

Gray area, what does a moderator say to this situation?
