Yea far as I remember the “tax” or cost per day is based and increased off the price the item is listed for. So list something for 1 million. It makes the vendor cost thousands a day with just a single item in it.

I always remember it being containers can be free but anything else needs a price, cant test it right now though.
Yea the fee gets ridiculous so a cap wouldnt be a crazy idea surely.

How about making actively managed or restocked vendor being free of charge and after a week or two period they would go to regular fee? Also an idea where restocked/managed vendors would change their headcolor hue from invul/yellow to something other to represent the activity on the vendor?

We all hate looking at empty vendors and losing our 1s clicks of your life.

Yeah I want to put stuff on a vendor as storage with the chance of getting it sold... That makes sense to me
when I can buy a storage increase Deed that in time would be way cheaper than trying to cheat the system

First you can't put items on a vendor without some kind of price on it... can't hit esc for items if you do that it does a
default price of 999

Only things that can not have a price is EMPTY bags and Books
Jesus people if you never run or ran vendor I don't think this applies to you...

If theres no tax ppl could put items for 10 mill which no one would buy for that. Established players wouldnt need to do that but it would be a lot extra storage for a small house if you think about it. I assume the tax was originally put in for that.

Knew that but havent had a vendor for a couple of years due to tax being ridiculous and it being better to sell on Disco. I would have vendors again if the tax was reduced so it does apply but some tax does serve a purpose

lol well I would not suggest doing that cause there might be someone out there like me who has
10Mil to throw in the trash that would buy it just out of spite

I don't really think anybody would do what you're suggesting, Smokey. The amount of work to scam an extra 500 storage out of a small house wouldn't make it worth it. By the time you had enough shit to pack into a small house full of vendors you could probably just buy a house with adequate storage... you know?

I think anybody who looks at this sensibly will see that the pros of removing(or greatly reducing) player vendor fees far outweigh that one person that might think they can squeeze a little more storage out of their tiny plot.

There's good and bad things to this i think.
It'd be interesting to see how much gold is actually sunk from vendor tax, i think we'de look at that first then evaluate.
There's only so many things you can do to remove gold off the server as a "tax" type thing and this is one of them. Removing gold from the server is a seriously important aspect, it keeps everything balanced.

Shane, thank you for replying and watching this thread. I understand that we need to “tax” earnings because gold is wild. I just think that player vendors are a necessity for a healthy shard. Skala doesn’t run her vendors because she’s hard up for gold. She reached out to me and we talked... she’s a great lady. UO superfan as most of us are. We vented and talked. She has roughly 60 vendors and she say 20 don’t make her money. She don’t need our gold.. Skala is doing God’s work. She’s big time... now let’s think of the little guys? I don’t believe the thought this change will make people cheap for storage. I don’t believe it.... I don’t believe it at all.

End of my message lost sense. I meant to say I don’t think that changing this will make people think it’s a storage thing.. that’s silly

Been playing for 6 months. Last month set a vendor selling stuff, took it down two weeks later. The cost was too much.

Thinks I would like to see:
1)tax things that sell
2) a flat tax per day (amount of sell price of items doesn’t effect anything)
3) tax per item. Set tax per item. So if you have 10 items your tax would be tax per item x10.

My fee across my vendors is often 45-75k a day and i dont really sell anything over 30k. Have to be committed to the cause to make that work.

Some of these ideas are great some just wont work.
If you ran vendors you would know ...
Example tax per item ... works for only high price item
but for myself most people can kiss that 50gp repair deed goodbye then.

You have to think why does the Winter/Spring Vendor Festival work so well?
Because for one it cost you jack shit / no vendor cost no gating cost
I have to say I do run one of the Oldest Vendors on the shard and I used to make
a very good profit. But as of late I do not. Not even sure if most the time it is even
worth placing them. But for me most of my vendors is a service for the Shard to insure
its life.... I am at my point in the game that if I take a lose on a vendor its not a big deal
But that doesn't work with everyone on the shard.
New player or just the play trying to make some gold to fund that new character they
require a profit to make it worth it for them.
That is one of the reason I have never charged people for vendors spots. I feel the charge
the shard has is enough. But even then I had a hard time keeping people at my houses.
If you want more activity in the crafting part of the shard and more vendors then there needs
to be some kind of adjustment to the system.

I mean even the vendor events are free to insure that there are placements

Yep, huge reason I don't have a well stocked vendor. The fees are stupid and it's easier to sell on disco. #freethevendors

A low cap would work surely with the amount going from 60gp to 500gp per day max. 500gp being when you have high end items on. I came back after not playing for a while and it did take a bit of searching to find very basic stuff. Seems like a lot of people are put off due to the tax
