Call me a newb or a drunk and you'd be right both times, but I favor a modest buff to plate armor in PvM... Have full plate AR counter melee poison in PvM to some extent. I don't PvP, so I won't speak for that, but having plate counter poison in PvM would open up melee against certain mobs...
