How the F$#% did someone kill my pack beetle in the Brit crafting area ?

So im in the brit crafting area minding my own business grinding up fletching when oldazzman kills my beetle and looted it dry .. how the fuck was he able to do that with out getting guard whacked .. he did turn grey but im a pure craftter and there was fuck all i could do about it..
Seriously WTF justy happened ??

Should have yelled for the guards...he was able to do it because no NPC's were within range to call the guards....
