[idea] Support the War Effort!

hubcap

Grandmaster
Think of this as a cross between an event and the BODs system.

Goes something like this:
-A storyline plays out where Lord British is looking for help from the people
-Acts as a sink for lesser used items in the game to make them a bit more interesting
-Rewards based on amount/level of items donated to the cause. Rewards paid out quarterly? monthly? weekly? daily? whatever...
-Rewards based on amount of stuff donated to the cause.

Lame Example Script (I willfully yield to the more creative, lol)::::::::

"""Weird things have been happening in and around the towns lately, and Lord British is asking the people to support the war effort as his noble warriors are delivering justice to the enemies of good! One can help in a wide variety of ways. Our Lord is asking for the following items:"""""

-dates, grapes, cheese, gourds, pumpkins, etc etc. (the stuff you find all over the place but never take or use. This might cause people to actually pick the stuff up) [reward ides could be: ....."field rations" (negates the need for food for one week. Player OR pet. Maybe insta-bonds a horse to the owner?) or it could give a level of "mind focus" that helps against para/stun......... "a putrid stew" (if char has some bad karma, instead of the rations, they get the putrid stew. This could allow them to heal (with bandages) 2s faster?... 'dread' title required...otherwise it cant be used until you are dread...]

-bandages, heal scrolls, GHeal scrolls, mag refl, react armor scrolls, strength, cure, GCure, etc etc. (the lower circle spells that any good working army could use.) [ reward items could be:......"a decorative banner" maybe a 'streamer type' banner deco that has Lord British colors on it (and colors for blackthorn/shadowlords...karma dependant.) ......." a title scroll" of "Royal Field Medic" or something like that...........Mostly deco related here, because the heal aspect of the game is pretty balanced. Unless most disagree with that, then, maybe introduce some "balancers" here.

-armor...leather....animals.....anything non exceptional counts to the efforts, as well, which can make the younger and new craftsmen and women keep an interest in gaining skills and give the "non" stuff a bit of game value. I can see lines of sheep and bears being brought into town to support the effort, as well.....(instead of advertising who tamed them.) Horses all the way up to unwated dragons that cant seem to be dungeon-broken. Rewards here could be "special" statues. Maybe metallic colors...."a bronze statue of Gwenno" "a silver statue of Saduj" "a gold statue of blackthorn" "a platinum statue of Lord British" etc etc....bust-sized deco....."decorative armor" "decorative" leather items..."decorative" animal pelts? you get the idea/

Basically make a sink for lesser used items and give them a value and a chance at potential sweet rewards that dont alter the balance of gameplay.
