Hey guys!

For some time we have been working with hifi a tool called UOMap, which idea is to get UO map into a web browser. Kinda like UOAM, or UOSteam's map, but just on web browser enabling you to the world of web programming languages such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL and many others.

Tonight we are showing some glimpse of UOMap and hoping to get some feedback from you players what would you want to have included in this browser based UO map program.

Visit our website on http://uomap.net/

Some of our ideas

1) Player and guild databases

You get a chance to follow up your fellow players and guild members. This happens by registering a player profile, or if you own a guild you can create your guild profile, where you can add members. Group profiles for friends.

2) Group tracking

If you get some large group of friends, or guild members for PvP/PvM/IDOC action this might fit you best. UOAM already has this option, but what if they were done on your web browser.

3) Coloured dots and timers/alarms for IDOCing

Add, edit and delete dots into world map. With your IDOC group. Set up timers to get calculations done. Set up alarms to see, which dots you should check right that time. If you know a timer, for IDOC, set it up to that correct dot. Certainly every guild and group have their own private maps. Shared map layers and markings visible to every group, or guild member.

For important places you can also set up a coloured dot for example, if you know where your enemies are headquarted at.

When RDA or such shows up, drag the dot to the correct place. When someone adds something new to the map, others get instant notification.

So far

Our UOMap client can so far send data of single player movement out from UO Forever, or any shard you are playing. You can just see, where you are moving as the screenshots below show. It can also provide server and character name. More features will be added later.

Upcoming

We are trying to figure out, if UOSteam and Sallos can send data to some servers outside. Imagine all those automatized macros!

Looking for web & software developers

Since we are doing this stuff for free during our spare time, we would like to recruit some passionate coders into our team. Coders, who are also passionate about UO and have no problems coding as a hobby. If you know web & software programming languages, send me private message here on forums, or IRC (as drinn).

Hiring

Front-end web developers

Want to play with our map? If you know HTML, CSS, JavaScript (especially this!) and such well you are the one!

Database guru

In order to have player, group and guild profiles we need a database guru for that.

Thank you!

New name and website published

UOMap.png

Our map program's first name was iUOM Tracker (Interactive Ultima Online Map) and we thought it was quite boring and difficult to remember, but at least it got its start from there. So we came up with a new name: UOMap, which is pretty simple and understandable of what the tool is all about.

At the same time we bought a new domain uomap.net for it and created the first website.

New web user interface and developer

UOMap has lately had many changes in order to get the project go further.

New developer

First of all we have got an old iUOM member @eppy to join us again to help us developing the UOMap program. He is a great programmer teaming up with another great one hifi. In the very beginning of UOMap, or previously known as iUOM eppy was shortly helping us, but now it seems we are more active than ever. Yet we have to note that this project is only for fun.

New wireframes for web user interface

Some great ideas come along and today we are about to show some of the ideas for example how UOMap will handle IDOCing and RDAs.

Take a look at the screenshot below:

UOMap_web_UI3.png

The shot you can see the backpack known from Ultima Online. From the header you can open and typically like at UO you can minimize it from the backpack. Inside the backpack you can find draggable items, or the coloured dots, which you can drag to the location you want on the map.

After dragging you, or anyone at your group or guild can add, edit or delete info of the "dot". Meaning player/guild/group databases and each share that one private map. Everything are included in your favourite web browser.

Upcoming tools

1) IDOC Finder
2) RDA Tracker
3) Guild/Group maps

Stay tuned!
