Adding consensual PVP to Invasion Events

I think we can all agree that the invasion events that the staff create are a good thing for the shard as it gives people a break from the normal grinds many PVE people go through. However while these events go on, dungeons and overland spawn empty because only a fool wouldnt want to stay in town, farm not only for event score but also farm under protection of the guards. While it is no doubt a nice break for many of the PVErs who no longer have to worry about being PKd while farming, it does create a void for those who enjoy the risk that only UO provides, even during PVE.

My solution to this is to add a small area of the invasion event that has increased mob drops(gold, special items) as well as a multiplier on the score in this area(maybe 1.5x the points accrued). However, with increased reward in this small area would come increased risk -- anyone who enters this area is automatically turned gray(not criminal) like in bucs den and thus would have to be willing to accept PVP here.

This area would probably be the PVP hotspot of the shard for a week as I'm sure we'd see both big and small guilds alike battling for control of the area. The nice part about this solution vs. the previous solution of just turning off guards is that it still allows people who want to purely PVE and not PVP during this event to continue doing so -- it just adds an extra incentive and reward to those who are willing to risk some PVP during the event.

Please try to keep comments and replies to this suggestion constructive instead of "OH WOW u just wanna ebolt rail 50v1" or "EQMS SUCKS HEHEHE" .

you really thing that would bring any pvp other then 25 of you guys sitting there with ebolt loaded ?

i highly doubt it.

i bet the only ppl who would die inside that pvp area are n00bs that enter because they dont know and start paging

noone else would go into that zone

People wouldnt go in a zone for increased drops and increased score accumulation? Why wouldnt $ try to lock down this zone? Why wouldnt Werkt? Why wouldnt trin? Is $ afraid to PVP for increased drops and increased event score?

p.s.

EQMS hasnt rolled 25 deep since about a year ago -- I've seen $ roll 10+ deep, same as EQMS, as as TBA, same as Werkt. This rule change isnt about any one guild -- its about adding consensual PVP to a weeklong event and rewarding those who want to have more risk than free farming under guard protection.

$ dont do these kind of events

Then maybe it would give you a reason to do them... knowing that through PVP you could get more gold/better drops/better score -- should be easy right, since $ always wins?

sorry i have smt better to do then getting offscreen last target set and instand eaten 25 ebolts

if they ban sallos i maybe get a bit more fun at pvp again

Bad idea, only benefits the zerg. If people want to fight you they will go to the no cut.

All I read here is eqms wants to zerg pvm toons while their group gets extra rewards.

Just have your staff member show you how to afk farm score while you pvp elsewhere.

This benefits any organized group -- werkt, $, TBA, trin, EQMS, etc...

It also doesnt impede on anyone who doesnt want to PVP -- just gives a bonus to those who are willing to accept some risk for an increased reward. You dont want to PVP at all during the event? Dont goto the pvp area of it... simple as that.

p.s.

Arent you in the W84IT/TBA alliance? You guys are indeed a zerg -- would this not benefit you as well provided you guys grouped up and organized and made an attempt at locking this area down?

Beautifully said.

What he failed to mention is that he is in one of the largest alliances in the game -- why cant his "zerg" group up and try to contend for this area as well?

Once again -- no one is forced to go in this PVP zone of the event, its simply for adding increased reward to those who dont mind taking an increased risk by flagging themselves as open to PVP.

Lol at calling tba a zerg. Not even close buddy. And even if we were, I don't find eboltb railing fun, so no thank you.

Can't force people to enjoy your lame play style. You already messed up pvp on this server and now you want a cookie for it?

So because your large group refuses to try to group up and fight(for whatever reason) it means that there should be no PVP on this server? If thats the case then you would be perfectly fine staying in the non-pvp area of the event. Should there be no increased reward for those who risk PVP because you dont want to PVP? Kind of a "if i cant have it, no one else should be able to" mentality....

p.s.

What PVP style would you prefer? Casting 2 spells instead of 1 where the 2nd spell you cast will 100% be offscreened? Small 2v2 and 3v3 fights where everyone is simply using a delayed eb macro to sync their spells? Alchy dexxers with purple pot scripts?

When you have no idea how PVP works(small or large scale) you probably shouldnt start bashing PVP styles....

People haven't organized mass zergs for years like you. You're pretty much asking for your own event area to benefit your guild as much as possible. Sure you might get some legit fights from the few groups that can take your numbers but in the end I can see you guys just camping that area cause nobody cares enough/has the time and numbers that eqms does to sit there and lock an area down. You would be getting a fight from everybody that could care less about pvm or the event.

1v1 for a mil?

Dodge?

Yea that's what I thought.

I have participated in every type of pvp on uof. I'm an average pvper but i have 0 ego so I never talk shit.

You shouldn't get to be rewarded cause nobody wants to fight your lame zerg.

P.s. tba is half the size of eqms, and we can't get 15 people on any time of day like eqms. Also most the alliance are pvm players.

So everyone's complaint against this suggestion is that EQMS is too powerful to take down? So this would be a good suggestion if there were no EQMS?

Do you think Werkt feels the same way? What about $? POWER? Its funny to keep track of people's arguments -- which one is it, EQMS is too newb or too powerful?
