Duel Pits with [templates

I wouldn't be the only person who would like to have [templates and infinite resources in duel pits, but I searched the forums and to my amazement, I found nothing similar to this suggestion.

Are we afraid that someone might temporarily find a way to abuse this? Too many bugs? Too much of an affect on the server's overall gameplay?

"newbied bottles", don't mind the trash people

so extreme lol!! I see you haven't lost that butt rash i gave you

newbied bottles are sooo much more hand holding than free 7x skillballs to duel with all day long my bad /sarcasm

suggestions like this just show everyone how new player OP is for not even suggesting hand holding as a drawback in the OP

this is freeshard UO not the world of warcraft

thread is like asking to make everyone only able to spell char names with numbers rofl no personality at all

I see that you're against the idea that everyone is on a level playing field in the duel pits.

How am I butt rashed when you're the one following me around, so interested in what I have to say, shitposting and shitstarting every post and thread. You're just a delusional crybaby wanker who needs attention every 5 minutes.

thread is like asking to make everyone only able to spell char names with numbers rofl no personality at all

This is the most incoherent nonsensical shit I've read from you so far.

everyone is already on a level playing feild in the duel pits.

It seems that the battle templates system is good enough to show newer players which direction they should be going.

it'll never happen bro, just the first to break the bad news to ya so don't namecall the messenger so hard d00d

I didn't realize everyone on the server had 1k every potion type and 6 characters tuned to every pvp skillset. You should start from scratch and go duel in there 10 minutes after creating your first character.

It seems that the battle templates system is good enough to show newer players which direction they should be going.
That 30 minute, limited participant, once a day event? Not everyone is jobless

Because you have to be in every single thread to crybaby the shit out of it and attempt to derail it or nudge it in a direction you want without giving any insights.

With your insane clown posse logic, CTF event is handholding, so are the duel pits. Every event is handholding to you because it implies the same thing; Players can do this shit on their own but rather have an event do it for them.

Suggestions should be formatted in a way that shows the possible drawbacks and provides some solutions to those problems.

it's not that it's a totally bad suggestion but the formatting is totally all over the map. As stated already you have neglected to update possible drawbacks as per posters feedback.

If you wanted better feedback than the most basic one line then don't you think you should put the same effort into your OP? No, you don't. More definitions to look up for @Jeff today:

*entitled
*butthurt

everyone can have 1k kegs and 6 chars tuned to every pvp skillset; thats why it's a level playing feild. Duelpits are already trammelized and all you seem to want to do is make them more trammel, nay, WoW'd out.

You'll need to work harder if you're going to preach trammel to a freeshard server population, this isn't WoW or COD

I gave 3 of the primary possible drawbacks, more than most suggestion threads. It's short and simple and you didn't even read it.

And hand holding/creating events for players is not a drawback... WOW

Your one liner wasn't even feedback. It was just nonsense shitstarting from you as always. I get that you're lonely dude.

Any additional effort was unneeded. This system is already in place (CTF), but apparently you already forgot.

everyone can have 1k kegs and 6 chars tuned to every pvp skillset; thats why it's a level playing feild. Duelpits are already trammelized and all you seem to want to do is make them more trammel, nay, WoW'd out.

Damn crying about duel pits? Want to have them removed? Your agenda finally out or what? You're a selfish piece of shit aren't you.

You could have just said from the beginning "Duel pits should be removed because it's trammy in the first place" would have been more compelling feedback than your thoughtless one liner

Good, delete your accounts and start fresh and start dueling tomorrow with 50/50/0/etc skill, when you get shit on it just means you're bad because according to yourself, you were on a level playing field and everything was completely fair.

You'll need to work harder if you're going to preach trammel to a freeshard server population, this isn't WoW or COD
You begging for newbied items is as trammel as it gets you hypocrite.

This isn't (insert random unrelated game here) we know, we know.... you're a "bwoken wreckord"
I'm pretty sure you're just afraid that you'll get trashed more often in PvP once everyone is learning to be better than you.

I'm putting you on ignore, the amount of time you spend on the forums is hilarious and I'm not going to be a crippled minded attention seeking fool like you. Feel free to respond after this post, I know you will because you just can't help yourself. You remind me of someone who took too many 8 balls to the nose and now has brain damage, so I kind of feel sorry for you in some ways. Have a great life.

Whoa ^

So I like the idea and I don't like it. It would allow someone new to the shard to test their favorite templates out right away with minimal investment. Maybe they'll stick around, put what they've learned to use, and make a permanent home here.

However they may not like what they find and since their investment in UOF was minimal, lose nothing by leaving the shard and have a short stay.

We have CTF which isn't a terribly static thing and newcomers probably don't know much about it. Even though CTF allows very similar opportunities I feel like players still have to invest in UOF to be around and participate in the chaos more than running straight to the docks and calling it a day as some players might do if this were implemented.

TBH if you want players to actually enjoy the experience to the maximum potential then that really requires them to earn what they have.

For example, if I gave a new guildmate a house, he would never enjoy that house as much as if he earned it himself.

The suggestion is similar in that the inevitability is that players would just never play the actual server because, for many pvpers, there would be no real need to go farm any gold or have a house, thus hindering their full enjoyment of the UOF server.

I'll admit I can think of a few constructive ideas that would support the OP's suggestion, solutions to these drawbacks etc. Such as a ''dock pass'' which would cost gold initially but allow you to recieve free supplies and use the [templates on a monthly basis.

Something like that could actually help the population rather than hinder it, surely. Might even make it a donation cost, only available to accounts for the first 45 days of their account age, to be used purely as a tool to show newbies how to play. But after the account reaches 45 days of age the dock pass won't work anymore.

As a real veteran UOer, (not just a frequent UOF poster), I have witnessed the destruction that handing out skillballs does to a server, even recently. Aside from looking absolutely tacky, it seems most players take it as a sign that the end is near and pull out their time investments.

Wouldn't be getting my hopes up on this one rofl

What he said ^

If you work for what you have you're more likely to stick around.
He got that "idea" from your post, he can't think on his own. Anyway, yeah I thought of it when I wrote that it might have an affect on the server's overall gameplay, people "jading" themselves. It might bore people out of the game if that's all that they allow themselves to do.

There are a couple of known bugs with the CTF system and people have found ways in the past to abuse these systems and they're still not air tight. But the jading is the largest possible drawback.

Besides being a possible gold sink, the ability to use that system could be made to relate to your character/account age. This is if you think that it will make people turn away from the server for experiencing the "endgame" too early. There are other possible ways too, such as fame (the absolute value of 50k total fame farmed), PvE kills, PvP kills, the sum of all your characters skills must be greater than 2k. You can even require the player to have a combination of some of these restraints (i.e 50k fame + 100 PvP kills).

only downside to this is the people who decide to only use the limited resource shit instead of actually taking part in other aspects of the game due to laziness in creating an actual character

not a big deal I guess, as long as it brings more people to the pvp scene
