Cooldown for medding with weapon equipped

When I go to meditate with my weapon on I get some message saying my hands must be free. So I immediately unequip weapon and meditate is now on the 10 second cooldown.
I think I should be able to meditate once unequipping weapon.

Why do you think it should be that way? It seems like a balancing mechanic to me.

Because when u accidentally hit med when weapon is equipped it puts it on a cool down even though I haven't used a skill at all. I sometimes accidentally forget to unequip then get stuck on a cool down.
What imbalance would be achieved if it was changed to my suggestion?
