This comes from a desire to see a bunch of old farts like me with a wife and kids to have an easier time group scheduling each other to do things as a group in-game.
Those of you who played WoW may remember the event invitations that you could create on the guild calendar In-game and people could accept or decline if they'd be there.
Having one of these in there for us, would make it easier to schedule times to be on with certain characters ready to do specific things. Plus it will cut down on the amount of time we harass you all on our naked thieves.
