Hell Gates, Sup?

So there was a fair amount of debate about Hell Gates during the month of October. Will they be common, will they not? How much are they really worth?

Allegedly three were created for the castle IDOC early in Oct, I only remember seeing two though. Maybe the third came from some other early event. I'm not sure. At that point there were supposed to be three.

During much of the Serps Hold invasion Hell Gate drops were disabled/broken. They were only re-enabled towards the end of the event and I only saw one new one posted to forums at that time. To my knowledge there are as few as four gates and I cannot confirm any more than that.

I didn't see the comment myself but @Shane allegedly said in Discord that the Hell Gates would be limited to a handful. It looks like they were, even if it wasnt by design (broken drop rate for much of the invasion)

Were any others obtained in October? Did they spawn during the cauldron event?

Were the people getting all pissy about the price checks and selling threads wrong about how common they are/would be?

I believe so. I believe that I made the right choice in "overpaying" for mine. I was the guy that traded the lvl 4 meta dragon/stone for the @Johntruman gate, and to be fair the dragon egg was sold to my RL friend long ago on the cheap and he bought the stone and did the leveling. He wasn't using it and John was looking for a meta and pretty new to the server so I feel like the trade was a win-win.

Thoughts, feelings, opinions?

Also I have seen 3 you have one @compton had one and @psykez not sure if they are on forums with that name or not. Also I'm not sure where Compton lives in game but I seen one on the steps of a house just outside of Britt to the west of town.

Edit I also forgot I seen that gronk has one as well.

They were all owned by the guild BiG before I was booted out. My son stole a bunch of items from their guild hall. I returned what I had when I got home. Still booted me.

Top 3 at serps hold invasion got one as a prize.

So 2 inside castle idoc, 1 as loot on pumpkin monster at castle idoc and 3 for serps invasion. This makes it 6 guaranteed that i know of.

Probably only 6 around. Still wouldn't pay 4-5m for one but it's a very cool looking deco

Yeah I've always been one to overpay for something I really want, and I truly couldn't go without this item. I was a tiny bit worried for a minute because I gambled and paid high and early but if I had to I'd do it again.

Lol at all the people who were SO SURE about the gates being low value and abundant drops. Just lol. Glad I dismissed that crap.

If I knew only 6 would be available I'd have probably paid 2m easily. Maaaaaybe 3m

A "6 of a kind" deco just isn't worth 5m imho, although it's mad cool

Well as stated the actual cost to me was very minimal which is why the decision was easily made. I'm never worried about a few mil here and there anyway... but the opportunity cost of selling the dragon wasn't even paid for with my gold so fuck itttttt.

More importantly than that, it fits perfectly in the theme of my cellar which is going to be an absolute ***** to decorate. This is going to help fill a pretty serious void, 900 tiles is a lot lot lot to fill out with items only.

This addition was huge. Tremendous item.

I would wager that there is only 6 as well like Lollo stated. The 3 Shane gave away with the idoc event are labeled like the one pictured above. The 3 from the invasion have a label stating 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the invasion. I got 2nd place.

The gates I am not sure we're intended to drop in the invasion. They started to show up as loot but were not accessible to pick up. Staff removed them and they never were put back on.

An aside: @eppy was working on making a dono item that changed the normal gate graphic into a blue version of the hell gate. He was testing it on the ETC gater if anyone remembers seeing it. Anyone know what happened with that? Still in the works?

I suggested a heavenly gate. I inverted the color of the hellgate. You can't simply do that with the item in game though. You have to find a hue # to get it set right.

@MZ3K my old cellar = 324 tiles, I have some new stuff to add but new cellar is 900 tiles so I'm gonna have a lottttttt of space to fill in where the vines are (farming vines like mad also)

Dreading getting started...and 400 vines left to farm

I did get a Hell Gate at the serp event, prob only 1 that was lootable. I sold it!!!!
