The funny old things you used to do on uo

Though we need a share old stories about uo. I just love them since there are so many stories that are my favorites that include bugs in the game. I used to love to gate white wyrms into newbie dungeons and outdoor spawns. Got to love those useful flour bags back in the day. Or using them to make a ladder into peoples houses. One of my favorite things to do was to make a character named" a brigand " turn him red then go to brigand camp and walk slowly at newbies in war mode. I never got kill counts :) they always attacked first. Also helped I had 3 summoned demon hidden around me to .... Or when a RL friend forgot to delete this password after playing at your house so you would gate his character to a random island naked. And you had to call a gm to get you off. Or being put in the damn yew prison for macroing....

Me an my best friend actually robbed a UO bank...no lie :) it was one of my greatest uo moments of all time. Guilded the guy, killed him, took him to the bank and told him he would get his stuff back plus way more. Only catch was he had to pass the test. We told him to put his entire bank content in the trade window for inspection. Once he did we simply killed him. All items from his bank went to his corpse. I would have felt bad of he didn't say he was going to track our ip, hunt us down, and murder us. That made it worth it ;)

I used to stand in a small tower outside brit moongate and do madd 'pvp' on my red. Now that I look back, I think I was more of a cheerleader than a killer

Used to do something similar except with Kirin. Was amusing to watch an army of Kirin duke it out with the natural spawns.

Come to think of it, it would be funny to release a dozen Kirin just inside Shame to liberate the PK hotspot.

On one of my first servers, until i could afford a house, I would stash all my goodies in hidden boxes. Usually tried to use the least populated town. Well apparently I was not the only one to do this, because I got lucky enough to find a bag of amazing armor/weps, supplies, and a bank check for 100k. Always figured it was someone getting ready to buy a house and move in. Wished I knew who it was cuz it really set me on my way ...

I started playing right when UO:R came out, my cousin and I. Our first house was a small on Ocllo Isle that was placed improperly, so the only way to get into the house was through the right steps diagonally. For some reason we decided to place a vendor on that same step. For the life of us we couldn't figure out why sometimes we could get on the steps and others not. At the time we hadn't figured out about stamina and moving over people/npcs lol.

One of my fondest memories of UO was when Brit gate was the pvp hotspot. Back on AOL Legends, my cousin, brother, and rl friend pitched in enough money to buy a Log Cabin a half a screen NW of Brit gate. So much fun back then, there was always action going on outside of the house.

Lastly, Test Center. Before Brit gate was the hotspot, all the action was at the Brit GY. I remember when test center used to a last a week before wipes. On the day it was gonna reset, I used to log in right when it came up and get the gold to place a small at Brit GY. This was when test center was crazy packed, and everyone would fight at Brit GY. I remember one time I even sold a small house on test Brit GY for like 10$ hah

Ah, the good ole days...

I had a stealth thief that would hide outside the entrance of covetous and steal black pearl from the members of the Covetous Crew who gathered there. It was a blast!

Decorating the inside of a house before decorating tools were around. Had to put fish steaks under everything to stack the item you are locking down to the correct height. When you got done decorating, your whole house had stacks of fish steaks everywhere.

Carrying 20+ Chaos shields for Pvp - They were free and you carried a lot because it was not uncommon to have your shield get destroyed by an enemy macer. To get more than one from the chaos shield giver, you had to throw the one in your pack on the ground, ask for another, put that one on the ground and so on. Folks would be standing by the chaos guard with stacks of shields around them.

I remember various things that were later removed or disabled.
I remember guards being gated into dungeons (if they walked onto someone's gate) and insta killing the monsters and any reds in the areas.
I used to gate various monsters from Hyloth onto the jungle areas of Serpent's Hold and kill them myself.

Trapping monsters in homes was a big thing because people would use them to train their skills.

Provocation worked on creatures in different rooms and out of line of sight.
The monsters did not have pathfinding and could be blocked with 3 tables, crates, boxes side by side.

Unlimited escorts, people using hired mages to raise their magic resist in town.

A house could be placed on top of towers.

People would use tents or houses to block off their main house thus giving them a private courtyard.

^^This.

That is how me and two buddies GM'd both Parry and Resisting Spells when having GM of either of those was nearly unheard of. Love them Wisps.

It wasn't me who did it, but I always loved the story of the guy who crashed the server by finding 375872234 slimes and walking them into Brit. When the guards whacked them, they would split into 2 slimes. They split enough times to eventually crash the server. Loved that one.

Edit: GL 98-01ish

Stood on the steps of a tower typing in all caps "DO YOU HAVE ANY GOOD FENCING WEAPONS TO SELL?"

Dude who came out did not kill me, which is shocking in retrospect. Morpheus of RoF took me in, helped me un-newb my dumb self. I ended up buying an account from another RoF member who was co-owned to Morpheus' tower, which was full of crazy rares and glitched items. I looked through every chest and briefly considered looting the place dry. Still glad I didn't.

Had some crazy good times with the WG guys from Brit xroads. They had a great griefing/pking style.
