Fix Spell Reflect and Going grey/criminal

The staff has never made changes to things that "don't seem "right" to the community." Any changes they have made has been by their own assessment and done in a way that THEY feel is best. There are hundreds of items that you can find on this forum that have never even been spoken about by the shard staff -- and that is because they are items that do not need to be changed to create a better player experience. This topic falls under THAT category.

You mean the staff has used a bit of discretion in deciding what changes to make? Wow, imagine that.

Of course they can't adopt every half-cocked idea for "corrections".... they take input and do their own research, then make a decision.

I fail to see how the current mechanics enhance player experience. It nerfs scribe and and noto fighting play style the OP mentions.

All you've done is argue semantics and find small parts of my points to pick apart. Please explain how the mechanic helps the shard? I think it turns off experienced players bc it doesn't have the right pvp "feel."

exactly. you have no idea how the spell even works here. If you ask me, total troll. But that's ok. I can relate man I have played other servers as well, and had to get used to the mechanics here at first. But you'll find that it is very logically balanced, despite first impressions.

Still didn't explain what you meant.

guess you'll have to do your own testing then mate
or read the thread
or read english, mind you

Make vague statement about basic UOR mechanic (how circles of reflection work I'm assuming; since you won't confirm...I assumed everyone knew this) then claim superior knowledge. Got it.

Learn how to approach an argument intellectually instead of just trying to "win"

''This is also the first server you've probably played on where the circles work the way they do also.''

Yep! It's plain english.

More advanced english would be ''UOF is also the first server you have probably played on where the mechanics surrounding circles of reflect work the way they do here.''

and if you don't know what that means you will have to test it for yourself, because I don't know where you've been lol.

I love how you're the one now being sidetracked so far off topic, nitpicking my grammar with no real defense for your stance on this non issue.

My point exactly with this thread :)

I fail to see how the current mechanics enhance player experience. It nerfs scribe and and noto fighting play style the OP mentions.

There is no way that this nerfs scribe or has ANYTHING AT ALL to do with scribe. I am like the king of scribes here (look at my thread history) and I do not feel even the least bit nerfed by the current mechanics. I don't see how it nerfs "noto fighting" (LOL?) except that it does not give YOU an advantage... really? You want to be protected from damage AND be able to deal it back... not very balanced if you ask me.

All you've done is argue semantics and find small parts of my points to pick apart. Please explain how the mechanic helps the shard? I think it turns off experienced players bc it doesn't have the right pvp "feel."
My point has been made half a dozen times, I do not think I need to do anything BUT pick apart your points.

I do not really need to defend the mechanic (although I have a half dozen times -- see previous seven pages) as it is the current and dominant gameplay mechanic. In this argument, it is YOUR responsibility to prove your change has merit.

There we go. Yes I am familiar with UOR reflect mechanics. I really doubt there are UOR based servers where you don't have multiple circles of reflect. It's a defining characteristic of UOR pvp.

Ok so we have all agreed aggressive acts should make you an aggressor. Agreed settled done. Ok so now all that is left to argue is whether or not casting an offensive spell on someone who has reflect up is an aggressive act. Well yes. The result doesn't matter you attacked someone that individual should be able to defend.

So; an act of aggression should flag you aggressor = true
Casting an adhesive spell on someone is an act of aggression = true

Therefore casting a spell on someone should flag you aggressor.

Yup it's that simple no reason it shouldn't be like this lots of in game examples of no damage flagging a player as an aggressor.

Only question is it a big enough issue to merit the time to fix? I would have said meh depends on how much work it will actually take but seeing as it had nine pages of debate obviously some people would really like to see this change and it should probably be looked at, at least.

the mechanics behind them, not the fact they exist
its english man
in other words
how many circles/how many circles with scribe/what skill pts are needed to get the extra circles/weather or not the spell will bounce if there is 1 circle left versus what circle spell was cast

etc

i already gave a good reason
wanna talk about it or just keep dodging and talking about realism?
The reason being?

Also not a word was said about realism. You may want to read some of the posts and you might see you are on the wrong side of this debate.

The reason being?

previously stated
scribe reds standing at brit bank making the server look bad slaughtering newbies who don't know better lol
its basically insta hit if you counter a newbies exp ebolt with exp FS scroll and they dont have reflect up.

your ''fix'' basically will lead to alot of this, newer players will have to adapt to the fix you're talking about, which will get them killed alot until they learn to avoid it. Because UO has such an intense learning curve, it's never a good idea just to make bigtime changes simply for realism.

Realism which isnt even accurate, as stated, the agressor only causes harm to himself, which is not a criminal act.

Just adapt to the way it is. so many changes will need to be made, probably the most trammel one of all is dis-allowing reds in town, in other words, they insta die if they cross guardline. I'd rather avoid that trammy bullshit

My only question is who will crack first you or halygon and admit that it doesn't make sense the way it is. Not say it NEEDS to be fixed but just admit it's broken.
I understand is hard to say you were wrong when have argued so hard for so long.

So your big concern is that a new blue player might attack an experienced red and lose?

isnt that why this thread started
lol
because some @Nubby thought he sent back 2 whole combos and wasnt able to take advantage of how overpowered that sounds?

reds look bad enough at the bank without instadropping newbies lol

There is no reason to "crack", just like there is nothing to admit. I have already told you to stop trying to make UO logical. Accept the gameplay mechanics that we all know and love and stop bringing up moot points about and I quote "half-cocked idea for "corrections"."

I admit sometimes i can be a little vague, i don't think its enough of a reason to totally discredit my opinions though.

Try to understand that this is the way it is, because brand new players don't just whip out a spellbook, record a hotkey for clearing target queue/casting mana drain and ensure to take off their opponents possible 15 circles of reflect before dropping an explode, especially when it looks like other blues are seriously attacking them.

dissappointed I dont have more advanced players opinions on this but I do understand that the rants and flames section is on fire right now lol
