Fix Spell Reflect and Going grey/criminal

its the learning curve man, you just aren't educated enough on this I think. No hard feelings though.
Wow really. It has nothing to do with scribe so even though I understand full well how it works that doesn't matter. It is about how reflect works.

The fact that you think newbie will be dropping is hilarious. Any blue who attacks a red is likely one of two things not a newbie or so newbie they were going to die either way.

The fact that this thread has over 1000 views and over 160 replies shows it's a real issue/bug that should be addressed. No other suggestion is even coming close.

Yeah, really. Scribe RA is set a certain way because of how reflect works. If the way reflect works is changed, the way scribe RA works should be the first thing you consider as a drawback and therefore is completely relevant. In my case, Im stating that there is a huge drawback in an overpowered way

The reason this thread is such an overall failure is because of two things:

bad information

improper suggestion formatting.

when posting a suggestion it should always be in this format:

1. whats the problem

2. solution for the problem

3. consider drawbacks

that way we wont need to circle jerk eachother

This is now officially laughable. So you are worried the change would make reflect over powered yet you have told everyone to make a red because they can take advantage of the reflect. You yourself have a red who you use in this way. So you want this over powered system to only work for you.

Ok now I get it. Why should a newbie blue trammy get the same power as your experienced red. Oh wait you said you didn't want it because it would be bad for newbies, but I thought it would make then over powered.

Well since your saying it's too good and not good enough I think it might be just right.

This thread has good information, and good examples on how this bug is being exploited and mechanically flawed. Although it's not exactly scribe as you're saying, I'm sure anyone with a brain can recognize it's still flawed. The solution for the problem has been brought up countless times throughout the thread, obviously you're trolling and just reading what you want to read and disregarding anything that argues YOUR opposition. Drawbacks to correcting this are that spell reflect will work logically and people will flag when they cast offensive spells on you, (sarcasm). We not have nimrods at bank exploiting this problem and randomly casting spells on people to grief their reflect circles. Before you know it there will be grief chars at bank with 2-3 of each reg casting on everyone to remove their reflect, and not flagging, and if they do, then so what because they're just going to get guard wacked and lose their measly regs. Think it through.........

I think they should be able to do that, if they suspect you have reflect on, they should be able to remove it without penalty. The work around for this is where PvP diversity is born. Cutoff runes, tactically coordinated strikes, or just simply putting reflect on after already being attacked.

It's a preventative mechanism designed to thrwart notoing and therefore if you want change you would need to redesign it and much more, way more than you can handle without properly formatting your suggestion first, thas fo sho

As stated, I believe the current mechanics drive more diverse pvp, than just standing around waiting for someone to cast explode on you.

a spell that is pre meditated should be able to be countered in a pre meditated way.

Why not just learn to use reflect after the fight has already began?

If there was a poll for this specific topic it should look like this:

whats better?

Newbies learning to play

or

redesigning the server

I would just like to state that I never dodged anything and was very thorough in defense of my beliefs.

And wow this has degraded lol.

The point you're STILL not understanding is that they don't suspect anything. It's sheer randomness that SHOULD be back firing on them for GAMBLING trying to go in for the kill rather than checking for reflect (as good pvpers usually do in fights in case you didn't know). On top of that, how can you say that someone should be able to cast offensive spells, try to kill you, and you cannot fight back without flaggin YOURSELF? Do you even realize that this isn't even PvP related? That this is actually NOTO related? We aren't talking strategy here, we are talking mechanics, there's a huge difference. Cutoff runes, tactically coordinated strikes, or simply putting reflect on after being attacked are all strategies we've all been using for close to 20 years. I can use you're same lame reasoning for not wanting to change it, TO actually change it. If it changes, adapt, and overcome, rather than being a "newbie".

1. No one stands around waiting for people to cast an offensive spell on you hoping that it reflects onto them as part of their offensive arsenal. They have it in case newbies such as yourself run around with a precasted flamestrike scroll, or a precasted explosion hoping they find someone without reflect, because you can't heal through synch dumps, or effectively synch dump in reality, and you know if you don't get off first, you die.

2. You contradict yourself with your second point, because if you put the person who's casting the offensive skill in the first pre meditated slot, then my pre meditated reflect should be able to counter your pre meditated pre casted flamestrike scroll, but if you're blue, and I'm blue......I can't......because it will reflect, and you will still be blue to me, then I would have to flag and become the aggressor, and potentially take a murder county. Did you even think about that statement?

3. I/We All, have been using reflect mid-battle, for again, close to 20 years now.......if it fits the battle. You're arguing with well seasoned vets, whom I know, have been PvPing on countless freeshards and OSI.

If you consider having them make people flag for casting a spell on someone whether its reflected or not, REDESIGNING the server, then I have wasted my time debating with you.

of course they dont. Not until the suggested ''fix'', which has yet to be properly formatted btw

Aye, it has degraded sadly. This is why I try to make a point about proper suggestion formatting for these youths.

It's pretty easy to anticipate being attacked while playing ultima online. Your argument is non-applicable.

Actually it just shows that Wreck and I can put on a good show. It really has nothing to do with your non-issue.

I mean hell, when I see a thread with 160 replies, I'm gonna check it out too.

No information is irrelevant except bad information, and the original post and backers posts seem to be riddled with it.

At least we now know that we must factor laziness in when determining if something is overpowered.

The devs must be REALLY busy to still not give a response... Makes me wonder how much e-peen thrusting and mega-trolling it's gonna take before we get an official answer.

The fact that I HAVE to wait for my MR to get removed - BEFORE- the attacker goes gray for me to defend - WITHOUT - flagging MYSELF, is just utter nonsense.

Anyone arguing against aggressive attacks flagging you if MR is up, is just looking for an advantage.

I don't care what I'm doing.
I don't care where I am.
I don't care if it's a red.

If you cast on me directly, you should be flagged. Period.

If you are aggressive towards another player it should flag you period..removing someone's defense is aggressive...I don't have a scribe so no dog in this fight other than common sense.
