Everyones cap can be 720, buy a set of peace/tailor scrolls you tight cunts they dont have much value anyway. lets not devalue scrolls anymore than we have to for the sake of a few babies crying cos its not given to them on a plate.....

i wouldnt say this is veteran knowladge, this is "Secret bug abuse that you learn only if you are told". there is NO way that u can know u get 20 more skills by abusing powerscrolls weirdly,For a long time i tought if i drop that skill that i used powerscroll on, i was going to lose extra cap, as that would be the logical thing.

Are u fucking dumb the info is open to anyone who can read + a staff member just linked the wiki where it says u can do it + its at the top of this very forum? May be you should read the wiki before racking up all the tears.

Now only vets know about this secret button so dont tell any noobies what is in this screenshot

While we're on the topic of unfair things in this game, I think every soul forge on the shard should be dismantled. There was never any Gump that came up when I first logged onto uof that told me I could make one with legendary crafting skills. It's unfair that I actually have to research how to make one.. and then go on a stupid quest? I think everyone should just get a soul forge in their bank box when they first log in... you know... to make it fair....

I have like three or four chars at 115 and four or five at 120. Been doing this with chars for about two years now.

Sup?

Sup? Oh the fucking tears my bro! The tears! That is what is up...

Anyone calling this a bug plz uninstall.. srsly. Its been in the game since PS's came along. Anyone can do it, the info is there for anyone who likes to read rather than post comments (that made me ever so sad)!
No one is gaining an unfair advantage other than those players who play the game, use their head, and most of all can read.. these are not required for you to download UOF, only to do any good with it. Do vets know about this more than new players?
Yup.
Is that fair?
Fuck. Yes.
They been here longer, they know it better, and just cos u didnt get a personalized fucking PM from Shane when you downloaded UOF doesnt mean other players did...

I think there are two solutions to this issue:
1. Cap everyone at 700 Skill points
2. Give everyone 720 points without needing to use the Powerscroll bug/exploit.

Or, we can leave it how it has been for over 10 years. This is no bug, no exploit... this is shear game mechanics. Power scrolls are explained in the uof wiki, uo guide, stratics, pretty much every uo website. I can see it being unfair if say I was "allowed" to use power scrolls, and you weren't.. but that isn't the case.

There is only ONE solution. If you don't know how something works... look it up!!

Now, since this thread has pretty much gone viral at this point.. it is PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE (as it always has been), so quit your bitching and just play the game..

Still think it's unfair? dont play

And after that they should either remove taming from the game or make me GM taming cause I didn't know about taming SSs bug/exploit

Please stop. I'm not a fan of power scrolls but this isn't a bug either. What your asking won't me you a better player and you want it all for free. Do you realize that other people have paid money for their power scrolls? Perhaps stop buying pixels and get some power scrolls.

Srsly this is a byproduct of the nature of the powerscroll. The game increases your skill cap by .1 for every gain you get beyond 700.

100.1 peacemaking = 700.1 skill cap to accommodate the extra point.

If you take your character to 720 peacemaking, you are at the absolute highest skill cap. Congratulations!

Now if you decide to drop your peacemaking for, say, anatomy you can do this because you are a free person. Do whatever the hell you want. But when you do it, you are leftover with 20 peacemaking points. The points don't just disappear, therefore the skill cap does not see a reduction. The game can't just decide to delete cap points as long as the skill points are floating around somewhere.

This goes into effect as soon as you start putting skill points elsewhere. The game can't just decide that when you lower a skill from 120.0 to 119.9 that the .1 is gone forever, that point has to go somewhere so it goes to another skill and the 720.0 cap is preserved.

I don't think there's a way around it based on that alone. I realized this early on and decided to take advantage of it on as many characters as it made sense to do it on (and even some that didn't)

I am aware that this sounds stupid and is at times redundant but I don't care I'm posting it anyway.

Public Service Announcement: you can now do the skill cap boost as cheaply with tailoring as you can with peacemaking due to price fluctuations. I just so happen to be selling a tailoring 115 & 120 combo for 300k. Get 'em while they're hot!

I think the OP is correct. I didn't know this either when I started.

But if I remember correctly, there was a post about uoforever templates (need magery on a lj temp or better have alch or something), and Bromista said he had abused this obvious bug. Halygon at the time didn't know either and was quite amazed. So, I only learned about this by reading through old posts. Nowadays, that post is not accessible to new players (forum move) any more. They are at a clear disadvantage!

Solution one is not plausible (delete all chars who had peace at 120... too many donators... Flubinati paradoxon etc).

Solution two (as proposed by Silvers... and I hope the OP agrees): New cap of 720 for all!

Only this would be fair!

*crosses fingers... 8 million to be saved*
*OMG it's too hot here*

Yeah, as it turned out even Halygon didn't know this "bug" but that was long ago. Which means this is old news.

I basically am the only one who posted this information publicly. Before that no one had said anything about it. Were people doing it already? Absolutely.

So in short, you're welcome. Now get out there and get you some PS and bump that cap.

Lol @ "bug"

What is fair is that you folks invest your time and gold into getting 120 tailoring or peacemaking if you really want the extra 20 skill points instead of complaining about "unfair" stuff. It does not cost "millions." I bought a 120 peacemaking scroll recently for 350k and I got the other scrolls for less than 100k on vendors.

I do not consider this a "bug" and it opens the possibility of a few good uoforever characters.

If everyone got handed 720 max skill points for free, the 7x GM toons will have an extra 20 points to put elsewhere, while the current method of getting 20 extra points only works for players with 8 skills.

The thing about Bromista claiming tailoring is just as cheap as peacemaking to get the 20 extra skill points is that tailoring costs leather resources or skill scrolls to gain skill, so it is not as cheap.

It does cost a bit more aside from the PS because skill scrolls are cheaper than using resources to hit the cap..

Unfortunately people keep jacking the price way up on Peace, obviously it's because demand for peace is higher because it costs nothing to raise only time. At the going rate, it's seriously about on par. 500k for Peace PS (some people even pay that much for the 120 alone), boom 120 at no extra cost. Tailor PS cost maybe 350k tops but an additional probably 100-150k to GM with SS and resources. So it's really a close call on these two I'd say.

The scrolls are available to anyone in the game to have the same 720 skill cap. Laziness, being cheap or lack of knowledge does not make for an unfair advantage.
