It would be nice if you put my name above this script when you post it - at least (at best ask me if i wanna share this shitty script in public, I may shy share it because it's not a perfect one).

Anyway I'll be proud if something in my shitty scripting knowledge help other people :)

I understand that somebody who share this script with you (if it not was me, i have bad memory don't recall it correctly) don't mention me as original author of it.

We pretty much madethe same script but i did grab the bottom portion from you to pause for world saves. Also i think i set to work on a corpser without a peacer the last time i used it. That is why it walks 2 tiles back and forth.

I wouldn't call it shitty. Its just doing a simple action so some long sophisticated script isn't necessary.

Those tread scripts are going to be very helpful. Thanks for those who posted and contributed. Got a tread today off another crystal.

ok so this meta dexxer is something i want to give a try. i dont play much so i think i will make my stealth archer into a meta, currently he is :
GM Swords, Tacts, Heal, Anat, Hide, Stealth and Archery, im thinking of dropping Archery for either magik resist or arms lore. still not sure what one will be more viable? today is the first day ive done any reading up on this subject so still very unsure. and still have to start the whole talisman process so it will be a little bit . approx how many vanqs will i need to fill the stone? and anyone know approx where this island is for the statue? i did it on another char when it first released but left shortly after. and then i have to find relics after aswell? been through so many pages but still not 100% on it

http://www.uoforum.com/wiki/index.php?title=Meta_Talismans

you need 30 vanqs
quest start is west of valor shrine - just type anything while standing in front of the statue
you're going to want magic resist unless you want to get rekt by anything that casts magic, player and monster alike
you're going to want arms lore because it helps so much with hit chance - it will help you farm gold faster and level ur talisman faster
if you don't play much, it's going to take you at least a year to finish the quest, grind the talisman, get all the relics, and grind all the relics. it's seriously slow as fucking shit and relics are near impossible to come by.

tl;dr don't do it man. it's not even worth it.

Well damn. That's not what I was expecting to hear lol. Thought this was a little more newb friendly and was hoping to use this to get me back into the game. Guessing relics arnt cheap either if you want to buy them. Blah was all stoked to try this but don't have that kind of time to invest.

You don't really need relics to enjoy a meta dexer. You still receive the benefit from the talisman and the accompanying skills (Spirit Speak for Mages/Arms Lore for Dexers). And while training a dexer you will earn the gold for at least one relic.

If you're looking to get into one on the cheap I recommend defensive. They are great at champs and invasions.

If you spend your time grinding mobs that produce crystals you will probably even earn a relic, while farming your talisman, while making money... for more relics!

Oh and if you don't take my word for it, there are some dexers in the top 10 of the elemental event who didn't have relics (or who only had one of the low impact ones such as phase shift),

thank you
ok just so i start this on the right char, and i like the sounds of cheap. for defensive could i use same template but instead of dropping archery maybe i should keep arch and drop swords? so
Arch/ Tacts/ Heal/ Anat/ Stealth/ Hide and like arms lore or resist? or is stealth/hide not used as much for defensive? could drop stealth for resist and swords for arms lore?

Hmm I don't think that template is going to serve a defensive talisman well. The idea is you will become a tank, so maybe something like the following would be better?

swords, tactics, healing, anatomy, magic resist, parrying, magery(?)

I'm a berserker talisman guy though so someone else should weigh in on this.

That template is fine for berserk, but not the defense talisman. You will want to get your AR over 100 to maximize xp gains. So, archery wouldn't be the best thing to have. Melee skill and Parry would help with AR. Decoy's build would be good for the defense talisman

Defensive talisman you will want to level up with your AR at 100 or higher. So I would not go full archer until may be after it is completely finished leveling. Armslore is pretty much a must have though now to get the better HCI. If you choose to go defensive you will likely be holding a shield to keep your AR over 100. You could pick up parry but it isn't a necessity. THere are a lot of people that tool their template to level better but once done they re-tool it to what they really wanted. Archery for instance is hard to level the talismans with. Some keep a second melee skill just to get it leveled up and once done you can decide then if you want to drop it.

I would go with these 6 skills: Swords*, Tactics, Anatomy, Healing, Resist, and Arms Lore.

From there you can use either, Magery, Archery, Parry, Lumber Jacking or Hiding as a seventh skill.

  • Magery: is great utility and something you should really consider for end game. Ability to use Reactive Armor, Recall, Cure, Reflect, and Teleport are great.
  • Archery: great for big bads that would squish you but probably a mistake tbh. You get less EXP the farther you are away and don't take advantage of the talisman if you're not taking damage.
  • Parry: great damage reduction but not necessary. You will use a shield, but don't need the skill. May be more worth it at early levels when the talisman isn't helping as much (and before you have a val swampy**)
  • Lumber Jacking: more of a berzerker thing, can't use with a shield so not really work considering for a defensive dexer. I note it because it's not unreasonable that you would switch at level 10 to get a damage boost. Note that you cannot use potions with a two-hander unless you un-equip/re-equip which is enough deterrent to keep me away even as a berzerker (unless LJ gets a buff).
  • Hiding: Great escape method and useful as a pause button.
Personally I would guide you to go with Parry first until you feel you no-longer need it, then drop two skills (Parry and an easy retrain skill like Anatomy) to raise Mage and Med. Then drop Med again (in this case by training Anatomy back up).

* or Fencing/Macing, but swords is considered the best by min/maxers
** Get an exceptional valorite barding swamp dragon as soon as you can. It's a game changer. You will spend around 700k for one (make sure to bond and ball it!) all said and done but it provides 20% damage reduction across the board.

Note on Arms Lore:
It has been a bit of an area of contention since it was changed to work with talisman users. I personally wouldn't build a dexer without it though. Not quite as irreplaceable as Spirit Speak on a mage but I find that it provides more damage bonus than most (if not any) relic you could equip.

ok thanks for the info, ill probably go with parry just because i dont think ill be getting a swamp dragon anytime soon. and by the time i can get a swamp dragon ill switch out parry for magery probably. just glad to see i can still give this meta dex thing a try. just gotta figure out what char to convert now

Oh and I'm guessing the arms lore doesn't come into effect until I actually have the talisman equipped? So don't bother with raising it till I have done the quest
