T2A duels/tournaments

DP needs to be removed from t2a duels/tourneys, spam poison ticks and spam wep hits, mages heal until they run out of mana then die. Pretty soon everyone joining these fights will be dp dexers if this isn't changed. Just my opinion. Not to mention you fail one to two cures in a row getting the DP off.

there is no poison bonus in t2a lol........

poisoning in t2a is used only for applying poison potions to bladed weapons

there is no inscribe bonus, there is no lumberjack bonus

there is no magic armor in duels in t2a, and there is no magic weapons allowed, there is no poisoned blades allowed.

I have a number of issues with T2a dueling, DP is one of the main ones.

T2a did not have DP poisoning. Here, the DP is doing about 15 a tick and tone needs to stop and caste to cure. Doing that with no pots and taking damage changes the balance of everything.

In T2a it was the age of the naked hally mage. It wasn't runic armor and vanq weapons.

Hammers did not take huge amounts of stamina. Their damage was slightly less than hally's and they drained slightly more stamina.

Eval Int did not give a bonus.

Mana regeneration rates were slower.

Overall weapon damage was much more regular without the huge peaks and valleys and did not constantly hit as hard to armorless opponents.

I'm sure there are other things I'm not thinking of atm.

tell that to all the poeple i just watched fail to cure that poison over and over and over again in that tourney. im sure they will disagree with you. and im case you've lost your mind, i just wore a full suit of invul in that tourney with a vanq hammer. so.............

in case it wasn't obvious enough..............................

i was talking about the way IT IS SUPPOSE to be, not the way it is now.

if you never played t2a on IPY or other shards, you probably shouldnt be posting in this thread because you dont know what you're talking about

As with all other ages in UO, many things changed during the time period we call T2A. I am hearing all kinds of "this is how it should be" without any type of supporting documentation.

Try using the web.archive.org site with uo.stratics.com to find actual era specific facts about T2A.

I believe in all tournys being on equal footing so you have the same access to skills all equipment should be standardised.

but the things ive seen that are not correct currently

protection works as a uor spell rather than give you +10 ar
ra has multiple charges when it should only have 1 [it also shouldn't be allowed in duels.
if a duel tourney has no pots you shouldn't be able to use poisoned weapons [as its a pot]
dp ticks to fast should be 30 dmg per 15 seconds
mind blast uses uor rule set rather than based on how much int you don't have [im fine with this it forces balance but its not accurate to t2a]
archery doesn't have a delay in the damage it had a delay in t2a
mini heal heals for uor amounts rather than t2a when it was between 7/10 at gm eval mage
harm damage is too high and has no delay in damage [but it fits in well with the system]

although it isn't what id call accurate I still like it the dp wep thing is the only imba thing.

what you have right now isn't t2a im sorry to say it.....its just UOR with insta hit and heal through poison enabled....

if you want t2a, refer to my post : http://www.uoforum.com/threads/t2a-duels-tournaments.51077/#post-331088

sources: i played ipy 1 and every pre uor shard since then ;-)

My point is, that if you want change to occur, you will need to bring more facts than you played other T2A shards. Uo.stratics.com from around 1999-2000 will be your best source of data to support yourself. And like I said, keep in mind that many things changed over the course of the T2A period of UO and if you choose a period at the beginning of that era, then there will be items that are different near the end.

Just for claification so that Adam doesn't have to:
there is no poison bonus in t2a lol........
Correct, poisoning does not affect hit chance.. nor does it on UOF's T2A ruleset.

there is no inscribe bonus, there is no lumberjack bonus
These both are also true... and are not active in UOFs T2A ruleset.

there is no magic armor in duels in t2a, and there is no magic weapons allowed, there is no poisoned blades allowed.
These are all false. Magic armor is ALLOWED but runic armor is not. Magic weapons are allowed, runic weapons are not. Poisoned blades are always allowed in T2A.

Halygon, I'd like to actually be productive here. Hopefully this will help settle some arguments and contribute to the accuracy of the t2a era.

I do not believe the functionality of the mind blast spell to be accurate for t2a. Below I have posted a link to an archived stratics essay of spell descriptions. The date of the snapshot does fall within the t2a time period.

I also have these which may be helpful. :)

I can only assume that in your above post, by hit chance, you mean chance to inflict poison. If I am correct, than this is true. The poisoning skill was used for nothing more than applying poison to weapons, food, and drink. No "chance to inflict / defend" bonus mentioned at all.

The fact that in certain UOF, t2a, tournaments participants cannot use cure potions but dp weapons are allowed, is a preference of the individual who created the tournament. Personally, I believe that cure potions should be allowed in duels where dp is allowed. However, this is just my opinion. This is not an accuracy issue.

I would also like to add in something about magic reflect. Forgive me if this is something that has already been taken into consideration. During the t2a era, magic reflection's durability was limited to one single spell, regardless of circle. There was also no limitation to casting frequency. (this statement was also true for reactive armor and protection) I only mention this in hopes that when the t2a lands are opened, reflectl will be used in this fashion once again.

Protection is another spell that needs to be looked at as well. During t2a it provided a temporary increase to AR. It did not allow mages to cast any amount of spells undisturbed. Please refer again to the essay written on the archived stratics page.

http://web.archive.org/web/20000301182337/http://uo.stratics.com/

I wish to conclude by saying that I am very happy with the experience that UOF provides. I am also, and always was, a huge fan of the t2a era. I am happy to productively discuss, research, or contribute to any effort involving UOF providing a t2a experience to its players.[/QUOTE]

The point you bring up about Mindblast is interesting because I honestly do not know if this was changed from the UOF version to T2A (original version - rarely used version tbh). I have asked the dev staff if this was made era accurate or not for the T2A zones/duels.

Since I have not tried magic reflection in a t2a zone, I am not sure how it functions although I know it was discussed during the implementation of the current t2a zones - this I have also asked the dev staff about to confirm.

I am pretty sure that protection is not currently t2a accurate and have notified the staff of this also.

Thank you for these.

whats the point of allowing dp weaps?
everyone just runs poison/heal dexxers..? with no cure pots..? that's not t2a.

t2a tournaments should be based on skill, not what weapons/armor you have.
everyone should be using gm weapons and armor with no poisoned blades. period.

this entire thread has gone sideways, the last tourney tonight with no magic crap and no dp was awesome. thats how it should be.
^^ this.
i messaged adam and he told me to give him the ruleset, and i did.. and we got a LEGIT, SKILL based tournament out of it.
