Increase usefullness of colored ingots

Currently you can craft various modifiers on bows using various colors or wood. To blacksmiths, such a system is not available but I assume thats because we already have runic hammers. Unfortunatly, they are limited while the resource collection is not (unlike with lumberjacking).

My suggestion is that blacksmiths get a similar material color bonus but not as strong as a runic weapon. More like a toned down version.

"forcing" people just to script craft is bad, its burns ppl fast out and also fills the server with ton for crappy shit. ppl want to play the game and not watching scripts running on 3 clients.

i gave eppy already a good idea how to sink the all kind of ingots + small runics hammers + improve slayer crafting at once.

Please enlighten us with your idea.

I've run an ingot vendor for almost 3yrs, and am thinking of packing it in...now that sales are so slow its definitely not worth the effort.

...con't, as I can't seem to edit.

What the hell exactly happened anyway, to wipe out the ingots market ? I heard about changes, but never was able to learn the details ??

I have a miner related changelog on the guides forum: https://www.uoforum.com/threads/elizabeth-golds-miner-test-lab.94086/
  • April 2017 All swampy barding deeds now have the same damage reduction: Previously the damage reduction increased with ore color. Meaning valorite will be in a lesser demand now.
  • March 2017 Mining now gives a chance to spawn mobs that drop nice stuff: Earth elementals will spawn during mining activities; see section about Earth Elementals above.
Basicly, colored ore was never in demand other than valorite. With the two changes above, valorite demand has dropped significantly (in favor of other colors so that evens out a bit) but valorite/agapite is now getting oversupplied.

Thanks, interesting to read. I wouldn't say coloured ore was never in demand, as I've sold many tons of all colours at the Minoc moongate vendor for quite awhile - shortly after the elemental change was introduced, it was almost like a switch was turned off. Now, it's just an occasional shadow or copper sale, with maybe 15k iron a week - so I assumed some other drastic changes had occurred.

Weird, but thanks again for the info.

Cheers.

It's an idea forum, it's open for suggestions and improvements. While I agree on the 'scriptting' issue, there might be ways to approach this. Example the creation of 'forged tools' which requires 4 forged iron to make instead of 4 ingots. The forged tool requires forged colored materials (currenly only iron exists). So basicly you are paying factor x1000 in materials for everything. In return you get a minimum number of attribute rolls depending on the color with chance to have even better attributes, also depending on the color.

A runic valorite katana costs what? 1 mil?
A forged valorite katana would cost somewhere around 400k using the model above.

Great. I definatly think you should share this with us. There's no need to be condescending.

ok

i think they should give Tinkers the ability to craft slayer upgrade deeds

These deeds cost tons of Ingots (cant give any numbers) + maybe gems or other low used resouces.
These deeds can only be used on Runic crafted weapons.
After you upgraded Weapon loses 1 Dur point it start a decay timer of 10 days after that the whole weapon is dust.

I had a whole system plotted out back a few years ago if I could find it again that would allow tinkers and crafters in general to have more of an active role in what they are making... I just gotta find it again.

i hope you find it ;)

even i dont craft i think improving crafting would be super good for the server.

The thing is, the only people that consume/use crafted goods, will eventually train up their tamers and use meta pets. Perhaps we are looking at this the wrong way and we should search for crafting sinks for tamers to use.

This is what happens when you begin the transformation of a server which had many types of skill sets into one directed towards PVP/PVM, things suffer. I have said this so many times over the years that to keep things running smoothly, you need to make sure that ALL professions are looked after in a meaningful way. Mining, ancient in terms of Ultima Online and yet resources now are about as valuable as a bunch of kindle.

If folks would stop pumping so much effort into PVP and begin to revisit older areas of the game which folks enjoy doing, then this suggestion wouldn't exist in the first place. The game needs a delicate between all professions, from the humble thief through to the Blacksmith, mess up on one class and the effect impacts somewhere along the chain.

+1

For the fact that balance is totally out of wack! There is so little reason to pick up a trade skill in my opinion. Why bust your hump making items to better fellow players when you can make 10 mill on a relic with 1/10000000 the time?

Honestly it goes beyond ore and trade skills. There are just not enough sinks in the game but plenty of rewards.

Look at the value of gold now to a year ago..
Look at the current value of statues...
Look at the current value of ore...
Value of regs (they can't even get any cheaper)..
Value of player made armor...
Player weapons...
Slayer spell books....

People have so much $h!t they throw it on the ground when a trash barrel (or battle well) is 3 tiles away. When I first played I would never see a power weapon on the ground but I easily do now.

People don't even bother looting corpses, I rarely see a miner (yea I know they are out there but not even remotely as many as before,)

Another issue is the rich keep getting more rich and the poor are having a harder gap to cross to obtain equality.

I know you have to put your time in to get more rewards but right now there is a small group that pretty much run the economy in this server and you will never catch up.

yes but somewhere need to start to get balanced and i think ore and slayer weapons are a good spot to start.

Got to start somewhere.

Just another idea I tossed arround before. Maybe a lesser meta for those who don't have 4858393 good to get 120 skill can partake in as well (not even remotely strong as a true meta)

Starts at lvl need to give it xxx iron ingots to level 2

Need yyyy ingots to level 3

Zzzz shadow ingots to level 4 etc

Nothing crazy maybe a bit stronger than a standard npc hireling (maybe human instead of an animal?)

Max level allow them to be equiped by the owner. This means more crafting by Smith's will be needed. As with players when they die the loot stays in the corpse, making players want more crafted armor/weapons.

I have tested some of this out and alot the function is already in game. You can hire a no hireling. You can bond pet ball them and Rez them but they come back naked. Eventually they do "go wild" and leave you. Also they can't be "stabled" but it's mostly there.

Just my idea to start the ball rolling

Actually thinking again a hireling meta may make more sense to use monster trophies this would increase trophies values?
