I gave up on my meta mage at just 12k exp in... with no slayer books, its a boring ass grind.. Where as, the beserker talisman goes at a steady pace and is quite fun to play. Just my personal opinion though. I just wish I could get my shadow disciple relic off and resell.. :(

Does the meta mage level faster compared to berserker (per dmg)? You can easily dash out ~80-100dmg with slayer katana over and over, wheres lightning/ebolt does basically no damage and you have to meditate to regenerate mana.

So, in what order should one try to get relics for the Defense Talisman? I was thinking of Remedy first but I got the understanding that it doesn't grant immunity for poison if it's casted by a mob instead of being applied by an attack. So maybe getting Recoil/Leech first is a better idea?

@alck

Recoil and Leech level FASTEST. Tard the Paladin has a great post about this on page 1 or 2 of this thread I believe. He recommends Quench and Remedy first (seeing that they take the longest to level). I personally threw relics in as I received them.

Recoil / Quench / Leech / Remedy

Recoil - No noticeable difference at low levels and against low end mobs - Granted at Level 10 against a Balron/Ancient Wyrm I am Reflecting back 100 - 150 Damage which is nice

Leech - Very little impact 1v1 and slightly better with 1vMany. I have it at level 10 and 1v1 I leech 1-10 health. What is nice is when I am doing a champ / invasion and there are 5+ mobs on me and I leech 1-10 health from ALL of them.

Quench - Life saver against dragons! Can't tell you how happy I am when I am squaring off against a Paragon Dragon/Elder Dragon/ Greater and this Proc's. Definitely get this one early if you plan on grinding in Destard or against other Dragonkin.

Remedy - To be honest this is my last relic and I haven't really got to level it yet. If it is anything like Quench... It will be very beneficial against poisoning mobs - Tera Keep Mobs / Shadow / Ancient Wyrms Etc.

I have also logged in an excel spreadsheet XP gains for Mobs and have a database of which mobs give what amount of XP. If you want to talk more about farming XP PM me.

In conclusion - I am an instant gratification guy so if I were to start over I would apply relics in this order
  1. Recoil - Level 1 - just because I think this relic is cool
  2. Quench - Level 4
  3. Remedy - Level 7
  4. Leech - Level 10
Of course the logical -- BEST -- build would be the way @Tard the Paladin suggests:
  1. Quench (1 & 2 are interchangeable)
  2. Remedy
  3. Recoil
  4. Leech
LAST NOTE!!

Make sure you get a Swamp Dragon + Barding Armor at some point (around level 7+)
  • I noticed a HUGE difference in staying power / ease after I got mine. I went from slaying Balrons with decent ability (some kiting) to cutting through them like butter standing toe-to-toe (maybe using 2-3 bandages) with my swampy and armor (this is with Valorite Plate / Invuln Heater shield).
  • Valorite Dragon Barding Armor = 18% damage Reduction & Exceptionally Crafted = +2% reduction. This is a TOTAL potential damage reduction of 20%!!!

Hope this helps!

Oh great question...!!! I don't think so because it does not add AR to your character. Open to others input on this one!

Speaking of @Fattson what is your build? Now that I'm lvl 10 defense... Thinking of getting the zerker talisman too! [emoji4]

I'm level 8 with level 5 phase shift using archery...I wish I never got phase shift. Flying to the bottom level of terra champ or being teleported into completely blocked off points in the rooms of neira champ is not particularly fun

@dobber I bet!

Let me ask you guys this:

I am level 10 Defense and thinking of doing Dual Talisman ( i know you can only equip one at a time = P )

My question then is how do I build? Here is my Current Build:

  • Fencing (should I switch out for Swords - I do like Para-Blows with Spears - Can Para Blow make up for dropping Parry)
  • Tactics
  • Anatomy
  • Healing
  • Parry (should I drop? - What about Alchemy / Inscription / Poison / LJ)
  • Resist
  • Magery ( Do you guys carry magery? How much?)
So here were some of my thoughts:

  • Drop Parry and pick up Inscription for Reflect / Reactive armor added Buff - Thoughts?
  • Drop Parry and pick up Alchemy - is the buff to drinking justify getting? Didn't think so - but might help when getting PK'd?
  • Poisoning - Not sure it is even worth getting for Zerker especially & Defense
  • OPEN to any other Combo's Suggestions
Thanks ALL!

Definitely don't spend a point on poisoning unless you really have nothing else you want, which shouldn't happen ever. Most mobs barely get a tick off before dying that is if they can even get poisoned. Adding ticks per pot is completely useless benefit. I don't know how people pay 2m+ for this relic.

But, you should probably just stick to one talisman per char because unequipping one will make you have to wait 10 mins to use the other, unless that works for you.

Question on the barding armor. Did you track how many high level mobs you were able to kill before the armor was destroyed? I know the durability but curious as to how that translates to monsters killed (want to calculate ROI on the barding armor investment). Also did you notice if the armor you were wearing took a lower durability hit (mainly that shield)?

Good question... I have been tanking devourers/dragons/ancients/balrons etc pretty hard for a few days and I still have my barding armor. When I use arms lore I am not seeing the durability amount left. It just says it has lost some durability. I can't speak to the barding armor reducing durability losses or character armor/shields. I was tracking it before my swampy... I'll have to run some more tests mounted and not mounted.

If im not mistaking exceptional valorite barding gives 20% damage reduction to the rider. Not sure if left over damage is split amongst the rest of the riders armor before damage actually hits you.

So full slayer armor plus exc val barding should be 70% damage reduction...

Is a full set of slayer ar needed? Someone told me you only need a piece or two for the dam reduction.
