Defense Talisman Changes

Some staff stats would be killer.

# of players
# of players with talisman of any type
# of players with max talisman

etc etc.

would be interesting

The change isn't terrible in and of itself.

What's bad is when so many people have grinded the defense talisman expecting it to work this way.

If we could trade/sell talismans, it wouldn't be nearly as much of a problem.

Now I have a lvl 8 defense tali'd perma-red character. I can't even pvm properly with it until I buy a murder count removal deed.


At the bare minimum the staff should allow me the opportunity of going blue on that character.

I saved my faction murder reset on that character just in case of this change, but there is no factions now.

Bug/exploit whatever. Semantics. It had an UNINTENDED side-effect. Call that whatever you want. This is an attempt to correct that.

it was never an unintended side effect that the defense tali made you more tough against monsters.


The defense talisman was never intended to influence pvp in any way. This change should have been implemented long time ago.

agree unfair that people put lots of time only for an aspect they used to be removed.

its sort of like a pull the bandaid off quick right now and upset some and get the train back on the right track or keep going along with it sort of half-assed like Tyrone is saying. if the GMs vision is for UOF to be a loosely based Renaissance server with light changes then stick with that, but if theyre implementing a more custom ruleset then they should open things up more towards that and not have a half in half out sort of system

although if i can Joe Rogan blow ur mind right now for a sec. what if i suggested that while the time might be gone forever, you've probably earned enough gold and other good stuff from PKing to more than make up for any gold loss

think of it not like losing access to something, but more like you had a benefit to your character that no one else going forward to this day willl ever have. cherish those days....... lol

the hot takes never stop. you know youre famous for them right? of course you do.

It seems GMs/eppy disagrees with you cause he changed it. Like hasn't this been the Whine-Topic-Du-Joure for like months now? I'm sure theyve collected all the whine tears and finally came up with this. So I dunno dude. Seems like they do think it had effect on PvP

I like the positive thinking, but I finished the character pretty recently.

Have only pk'd enough to be perma-red, not enough to make a lot of gold.

And I spent a ton of time grinding a slow talisman when I could have made more grinding a higher dmg talisman.

Maybe I'm just a pessimist though.

I have a Lvl 1 defense and a Lvl 2 Zerker. I dont even play the defense. Zerker ive only just casually done TMaps while he shot shit with bow. Easy to level up (for now it seems). Ive gotten pretty good at t maps lol

I think the best alternative is to let me trade it. I'm sure there is some wealthy player that would love to try a defense talisman.

I'd love to swap mine out for the same lvl zerker talisman at this point.

Not against that at all. Im sure some would like to make me bad guy but I just like the change, thats all. But I also would support higher drop rates on relics, less grind time, tradeable stones, tradable talismans all sorts of stuff. I don't necessarily dislike the "uber" stuff I just hate it being such a gap-creator in a game like UO so support anything to make it more even.

This is the the main source of the problem - people getting talismans to abuse it in pvp in the first place. From what I've understood this was never intended by staff

and how to abuse it in pvp ?

there not any mobs on most pvp spot.

Well I'm sure you don't care at all but I'm totally in favor of several changes to Explosion potions just not necessarily the ones you are saying.

If you want to get distracted off into a troll argument about that we can, but id rather stick with the topic of thread

I feel the main concern people had was a maxed out resil could basically stand toe to toe with a mob while pking another blue.

Ex: ive seen a red resil have a poison elly punching him and casting and he was still able to stand there for 10 seconds or more hitting a blue player with no worries at all. Resil should be disabled for the aggressor in a fight. The griefing for how it is now will be a big concern.
